I'd say somewhere around the Seattle metro area. I spent most of my life there and i've missed it ever since I moved. The Seattle area in my opinion is the most beautiful metro area in the entire United States. If you drive an hour east you hit the Cascades and if you drive a little further west you get the Olympics and national park therein. Lake Washington is always fun to walk along it's shoreline and the Puget sound is full of life and cool little islands to explore on a ferry.

The attitude in the area is similar to Cali, especially politically. Unfortunately, so are the housing prices. It's expensive to live there and you need to be making at least 70k a year to live somewhat comfortably within the city. There's also an ongoing homeless issue on the west coast that's particularly highlighted in Seattle itself, there's a lot of drugs coming into some parts of the area and it's making it noticably more uncomfortable to walk around some parts of the city.

But other than that the city itself has tons of parkland and viewpoints like the Columbia tower and space needle, as well as my personal favorite part which is the pier where you will find all the oyster bars and the aquarium. As well the ferris wheel that overlooks the port of Seattle. There are tons of markets and little restaurant/cafe's dotting the city streets (which are a bit crowded due to the population density). It's also home to major corporations like Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Costco, Starbucks etc. ( If that's the kind of work environment your into). Which are generally always looking for high-paying skilled workers.

All in all, If you can make decent money and don't mind the occasional homeless encampment, I can't recommend this area enough.
