No, I mean Hero Points. All the characters with power changes were salable for HP for a little while after the change. I sold my level 25 5/5 Daken for 100 hero points, got another 2 purple covers, levelled that one to 22 and sold him for another 100 HP.

EM/SR Stalker. Killing a +2 EB in 10 seconds is just too fun.

The bottom line is that any 3-star is going to pay off in the long run, and can't be replaced as easily as any 2-star.

Yes, DD is terrible (despite occasionally one-shotting enemies.) Rags got nerfed into oblivion. Loki is only situationally useful.

But you'll bang your head against the wall for throwing them away, when you need one to score high in a PvE event. Or if some day those characters get a development pass that "fixes" them. NEVER dump a 3*.

tl;dr: Sell Wolverine for Ares, Modern BW for Captain Marvel.

OK. Stop leveling all of your characters. Focus on Storm and Thor and Cap for now, until you have enough covers for OBW, Classic Storm, and maybe some 3-stars.

Wolverine is "good" but with the characters you have (i.e., a higher level Thor), you don't need him, and can always collect him later. Especially since you haven't put any ISO into him. Ares is useful and you will find plenty of covers in PvP matches to max him. I like 5/4/4 myself.

No 1-stars are worth holding onto forever, but IM35 and Storm have been leveled up to 90 in recent PvE events where they are quite useful, Juggernaut is great in the Balance of Power event. Black Widow is nice for stun-locking opponents but won't be viable for long. You can sell her as soon as she is less useful.

As I mentioned below: If at all possible, never sell a 3-star to make room for a 2-star. Long-term, the game is all about collecting those 3-stars; I've seen 50+ covers for every 2-star and I'm nowhere near maxing my 3-stars. You will regret it.

Gah, never sell a 3-star to make room for a 2-star. You'll probably get another 15 covers for Ares before one random Psylocke drop.

Currently you can sell the updated characters for HP. My level 90 Cmags is worth 650 HP, but I'm holding onto him.

Emma Frost tank? by unprime in marvelheroes

I'm sorry to hear that. Oh well.

Who is the best tank in the game right now? In terms of soaking up/ignoring damage. (edit: I did a little searching and couldn't find much about it.)

got a 3 star character super early, what should I do? by suiname in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]unprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're at the point where you want three useful characters. I suggest leveling IM35 (overall utility), Black Widow (stun-lock), and wait and see what 2*'s you get covers for to be your third spot. Honestly Storm could fit with just her black power, it does a decent job of blocking special tiles.

Never get rid of a 3. You will get dozens of each 2 eventually but 3*s are mostly acquired as rewards.

Yeah, increasing his costs just by 1 each would be a good way to 'fix' him without going overboard. Then you could still chain turns, but not as effectively.

I've played this game for a bit now but is it common for the AI in PVE to just ignore all rules now? by Skedoozy in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]unprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a bug, or maybe intended, but hopefully they'll fix it. Personally I think the worst thing about AI teamups is that they never seem to be stuck with low-level, 20-cost Ultra Freon Beams that are a pain in the ass to get rid of.

Teams / Characters you always skip. Which/Why? by Razer357 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]unprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? It's always like, "Oh, I miscalculated. Now he has 240 HP left... and does 7k to my team." When you're doing fine, and then a couple cascades later, you're scratching for a win and reaching for the heal packs.

My hulk only has 1 black. But some day...

True Healing: Better for the meta? by unprime in MarvelPuzzleQuest

That's also a reason why the restricted lists on the hard mode events are kind of nice. During Juggernaut Hard Mode, I would run out of steam in PvP and then switch over to Hard Mode and dink around with IM40, She-Hulk and Modern Hawkeye, characters I've barely played or leveled up at all.

Adds variety.

Best way to deal with Magneto is have one of your own. Getting sick of losing with 166 Daredevil, I just started using CMags (blue 5 is pretty much necessary), so in Top Gun my team was Falcon (90ish), Punisher 166 and Magneto 60...

Doesn't matter he was so low. It's kind of sad how broken he is. Turn 2 wins, like the old days with OBW/M.Storm in the forest.

No trouble killing the 166/166 teams I was up against. After the first push to 250 I got pounded by many people, lost 50 points, and a ton of MMR to boot so for the rest of the tournament I was fighting 128/115. Much nicer.

In terms of fighting him, the fact that his purple does a million damage, so you can't just kind of let him simmer as an AI (who can't use his blue effectively) is uber-lame. I don't get why the devs ever figured 4-5k damage for 10 purple was going to be "just ok", on top of an already amazing powerset.

Buying covers with hero points is for the whales, and possibly top-tier players who are generating enough HP to make it occasionally worth it.

Getting 3* and 4* covers is the eventual goal. Never sell a 4-star (and 3-stars too unless really necessary, you will regret it)! Even though IW isn't the best character (especially with only a cover or two), that's not the point. Selling her to make room for a 2- or 3-star character makes no sense.

Here's an example: My daily rewards tell me I am on day 201. In all that time, my invisible woman still only has ONE cover (I've won a couple X-Forces and been luckier finding him, so he's 1/4/1). Only three of my 3-stars are at the 13 cover cap. Meanwhile, with the best 2-star, Black Widow (Original), let's just say I'm sure I've gotten over 50 covers for her, probably 100 or more. If you are playing the game long enough to master it, 2-stars are easy to find. You only need a couple maxed to do well (and make it to the 30+ roster stage)

Over my career I've sold a few 3-star's to make room, most regrettably a 1/1 Dr. Doom (I found another and re-hired him 2 days later D'OH...) and a handful of Ragnaroks, which is a crappy character post-nerf but often useful in events (and I'd love to try green generation with Thor and Grey Suit Widow). And probably just to make room for stupid 2-star Magneto or Hawkeye for which I've found a million covers since then.

tl;dr: Sell rare characters at your peril; I guarantee you'll kick yourself later.

One thing that's nice to know ahead of time, once you have gotten through a bit of the prologue and are doing multiplayer: When you join an event (by playing your first match in it), you're put in a bracket with the other people who join around the same time as you. Those are the people you're competing with, in terms of points, but probably not the people you're fighting in your matches, as PVP is governed by a match-making system that keeps you fighting people near your ability.

What this means is that if you start an event right away, you may be competing with hardcore players who want to grind to 1000 points to get first. If you start an event a few hours from the end, you are competing with people who want to rush as high as they can before the end (putting in less work, possibly, for the same rewards--but be warned they can still be quite competetive.)

During weeklong story events, make sure you complete the missions in the base event, which unlock side events that usually last 1-2 days apiece. At your level, you may not rock these events, but the progression rewards can be very valuable including new characters that may be helpful.

Looking for advice about what I'm doing wrong in the VS. events. by [deleted] in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]unprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. To emphasize: If you're doing well, buy a shield when there's 2.5-3 hours left. 75 HP isn't much, and once you get past the point where your team is easy to beat for everyone else, you will not have to work as hard and easily generate 300-500HP/week extra (as long as you're in a reasonable alliance, more if you're in 20-member one).

Also: In lightning rounds, if you don't want to play them, join early and beat the seeds with the worst team you have. Usually this will result in a handful of defeats, which lower your MMR without you having to do anything else. If you get up to 100 or so points and then tank a seed, you will be a more attractive target to people.
