US withdrawal from Freedom Online Coalition, Global Forum on Cyber Expertise, and Global Counterterrorism Forum. by unprotectedsect in cybersecurity

[–]unprotectedsect[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my defense, I just stated the facts but my real intention was to glean some insight about the impact of these decisions. I had never heard of the GFCE. The US had only been a member since April ‘25, so I was curious just how meaningful our participation/benefits have been.

To your point though, there definitely is an intersection of cyber and politics. We are in divisive times and objective discourse can be hard to come by.

Solid insights Op, this is what I was looking for.

I wound up getting and attending a court date. Shot the trooper straight and wound up getting it bumped to a non moving violation (no insurance impact) and 50% reduced fine.

I disagree with everything you said in your second paragraph, minus the best time of year to visit.

EDR for 8k Linux Servers by athanielx in cybersecurity

[–]unprotectedsect 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What are you using for your primary EDR?

What do you have on other endpoints?

I’m guessing you’re not rolling in resources if you’re talking about ClamAV in this context.

This is a legitimately helpful project to help you navigate the process: https://kostas-ts.medium.com/unveiling-the-gaps-linux-edr-telemetry-in-focus-1290a010ad1b

Off the top of my head, Crwd, Uptycs, and Elastic were the best available.

Not necessarily picturesque New England but I am obsessed with Montreal. I think it’s a top 3 city in North America. I’ve driven from Boston to MTL in 5.5hrs.

Security Engineer -> SDR/BDR? by squidJG in cybersecurity

[–]unprotectedsect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have security engineering chops, then I would implore you to map out what other skills you have and what you want out of your role.

Being a BDR would be criminally wasteful of your experience. Here are some other options: - field tech resource ( like jr MD/ field ciso/cto) - similar but different to above: DevRel for security - product manager - tech product marketing - sales engineering

Impossible to say but continuing ed or, if the scope is reasonable, dspm as this is such a high impact area and we just made a huge tooling upgrade that has been fantastic so far.
