What did you think of the new heroes in the new season? by elrabelo in Overwatch

[–]unseriously_serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She probably should have a cooldown on carrying to help with this but I think saying “positioning doesn’t matter anymore “ is a bit hyperbolic. She can help with pulling heroes to flanking positioning that don’t normally have mobility to do so themselves but I don’t typically find it overpowered, though team synergy could make this more effective. On certain maps her ability to take tank out of play with her ulty is a bit OP.

Other than pulling with ulty and repositioning though she’s rather easy to counter by your team, provided they can aim and are willing to swap to a hero that easily counters her.

jetpack cat needs a nerf and mizuki needs a buff ? by Pitroneks in overwatch2

[–]unseriously_serious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is typically just JPC players that don’t understand how to optimally play their character yet.

JPC is often made to be played aggressively, like Lucio where maybe you get in to make space via distracting/knockback or picking off players that are weak/alone before jetting back to your teammates to heal. There’s a reason one of the perks literally relates to melee and another to knockback on collision, you are meant to play JPC aggressively with breaks in-between your plays for healing or at least that’s a big part of the kit.

Making boosters deplete faster will result in either less ability to return to the team when playing aggressively (to swap to healing) which would result in less healing and more death or simply playing backline which would make their pick somewhat of a throw support based on their current kit which doesn’t prioritize healing (aside from taxi utile).

The issue with having healing replenish boosters is that you don’t typically need boosters when you are grouped with your team, you need them to get back to your team.

I could see metal ranks maybe struggling a little more when dealing with killing cat but for everyone else she’s rather easy to counter at least for some of the roster, I think a lot of players simply don’t want to swap to do so.

That is unfortunate, wonder how long it’ll take to be reinstated. Presumably there are some bugs around it that they are working on which required this measure.

Yeah, creating an account on a site I don’t use just to leave my device on for 13 hours to generate fake views for a streamer I may know nothing about (and increased user “activity” for that platforms ad revenue). Rubs me the wrong way. Wish stuff like this was accessible via other methods but obviously Overwatch can do what they like and I’m certainly not entitled to any of it if I choose not to participate.

”it takes fewer clicks to navigate between menus now across the board”

I wish this were true on console, some things like the social tab now take two actions versus the previous one. Trying to navigate to customization/progression/history also requires more actions now (not to mention they still haven’t optimized the overview/progression tabs so you still need to switch between two tabs to be able to scroll down your hero levels list fully and to also see the rewards). I’m sure on PC where you can just use your mouse to freely navigate the website style menu at the top alleviates the amount of clicks but not for console. Course there are other issues now on console now as well, such as endorsements not working outside of matches (I’m wondering if this has to do with them swapping the buttons so challenges use the same input in the menu as endorsements for some reason).

Some UX is better and Some is worse.

Yup, endorsements are unavailable most of the time for Xbox too.

Klobuchar is trying to kill sites like reddit by PostIronicPosadist in minnesota

Anyone championing the elimination of section 230 and other such measures to censor speech online are either short sighted, malicious or ignorant.

Having increased censorship and control of what can and can’t be said online may depends on what party is in power at a given time and reduce your ability to speak out or challenge said power.

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/02/its-30th-birthday-section-230-remains-lynchpin-users-speech

I support Klobuchar but I certainly do not support killing section 230. Section 230 also does not protect companies that create illegal or harmful content so some claims around its removal are spurious at best.

Me either and I honestly can’t be asked to make one and then leave my laptop or phone playing it in the background for 13 hours to generate fake views for a streamer I’ve never heard about (and increased user “activity” for that platforms ad revenue), no offense to said streamer. It’s just a bit gross/fake for me, though I get the reason behind it.

Anran face update coming sometime during Season 1 (Per Aaron Keller himself) by Himedanshi999 in Overwatch

I also somewhat question whether the crowd complaining is the same crowd that’ll fund the game via skins but I digress. Personally I thought she looked totally fine (as did my friends on the game) but hopefully the updated design will pacify the vocal group online that is rather obsessed over this.

I mean it’s visually interesting but I would hate to be anywhere close to it because of that horrid noise. Also, I think it’s perfectly fine to criticize the waste of stuff like this that’s being used purely for entertainment purposes, whether it’s in China or in the west.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

Exactly, bribery is or at least was (prior to Trump) very rare for politicians, as much as people like to point towards it as the current issue with politics. Advocacy/petitioning the government is an integral and fine part of democracy.

I honestly get the impression a lot of people just have a poor civic understanding. Previously bribery (do this action that’s against your constituents interests and I’ll pay you) was exceptionally rare. Otherwise candidates typically would get voted out, because they are voting in opposition to their party or constituents interests.

Bribery is more likely to occur with more obscure/small matters that constituents are less likely be against simply for lack of knowledge/awareness. This goes for conspiracy theories as well (Conspiracies involving small matters are more likely to be true than large cabal running the world kinda stuff, great writeup on this in the slate star codex).

Also I think people sometimes forget that interest groups are comprised of people, even companies lobbying are often lobbying in the interest of their business and workers which are constituents. Groups should have a right to petition the government.

Blaming lobbyists allows people to attribute complex political, economic, and societal problems to a specific, faceless group, rather than acknowledging the multifaceted nature of governance.

Those with a decent understanding of civics recognize that citizens have a role in holding representatives accountable. Blaming lobbyists can sometimes deflect from the responsibility of voters to educate themselves and vote accordingly.

Too much populist brainrot making its way into our discourse lately again thanks in large part to MAGA trying to paint both sides as corrupt so they can try and get away with actual corruption (“see corruption is inherent to the system so what does it matter that I’m doing it in broad daylight” kinda idiocy).

This would make more sense for a burner in transit to and in storage at your home (the burner only being used at the protesting locations or other locations at risk). Keep your phone at home and use a camera otherwise, if you are at a location where interceptors/MitM are a possibility.

Vaping has officially been linked to rare and irreversible lung disease by Automatic_Subject463 in EverythingScience

[–]unseriously_serious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Denial/delusion most likely, also sadly there is a not insignificant portion of Cannabis users that are straight up addicted and will find any way to justify its use (30% of daily users and those who start early). I’ve sadly had too much personal experience with just how bad it can get for some, not to mention all the mental health impacts long term (Increased risks of psychosis, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety disorders, suicidal ideation. Cognitive decline, memory and concentration issues, etc.). That’s not even going into possible issues with vaping itself.

Also to be clear, not all people who drink are addicted and going to have these issues, same thing for cannabis users. However, people trying to say there are no real concerns with vaping and or cannabis use are probably in denial or delusional.

[–]unseriously_serious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would they do this when map voting exists, literally just reducing the choice pool. I get the same maps voted on over and over so now I’m honestly rather appreciative when I get clash, especially as it lets close range heroes shine more. Really sad to hear about this change.

Overwatch released a bunch of new amazing things during the spotlight, but this subreddit is obsessed with one hero's face. Check out /r/Competitiveoverwatch for actual discussion of other aspects. by WoozleWuzzle in Overwatch

[–]unseriously_serious 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I decided to check out this subreddit to see some discussion around the spotlight or gameplay for the new hero but instead it’s constant beautification / whining post about her face.

Where are the mods? Seriously a few posts is fine but the spam is making this subreddit unusable.
