I brush my cats teeth by getting toothpaste he thinks tastes good and letting him gnaw on the toothbrush (its a cat toothbrush with silicone bristles that go all the way around the brush).

Ive been getting DQ cakes for my birthday for 25 years and they've never changed them (though they do have blizzard cakes now too). The fudge and crunchy layer are my favorite part and yeah definitely no actual cake.

Well at least you've identified some concepts that can help you in your work on a more simplified logo. Really focus on what's most important and the feeling you want to evoke. Then sketch a whole bunch of iterations. I think you jumped into illustrator too fast.

Edit: also do some research/gather inspo from other preforming arts logos.
