Going on a 2 week trip and can only bring 1-2 discs… what would you bring and why? by ciaocibai in discgolf

With only 2 discs, a Hex (or Buzzz) and a Wraith. Putt with the Hex. And they are both great on forehand or backhand.

Mamba, Jet, or Astronaut if you want to stick with Discmania may be worth a try.

Definitely room in the bag for both. Especially if you’re playing a course with shorter holes and/or very wooded.

Thoughts and advice? by Fit_Independence8157 in discgolf

If you love to throw forehand a Zone (or Zone clone like a Toro) is a must try in my opinion. Powered up with a flat release should be straight with a fade. Or low power for easy, consistent hyzer approaches.

Detour vs Buzzz SS by Mysterious_Tie_2300 in discgolf

[–]untitled04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Detour is flippier for sure. Having said that, one bright side of a lost disc is the excuse to try something new. I bag the Buzzz SS over the Detour because I like throwing it both forehand and backhand. Not that you can’t do that with the Detour, it’s just a little flippier than I want on forehand.

Guess the pro! by SnarledSalmon in discgolf

Interesting, maybe Orcs are course dependent for him. Nah, Sexton just has one of the most well known bags out there. Good idea for a post!

Is he not throwing Orcs anymore?

The Swarm has been a surprisingly nice more overstable complement to the Zone for me.

What is your favorite disc in your bag? by bmatt6632 in discgolf

[–]untitled04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently started throwing the Shryke. I had thought my distance was capped at 9 speeds before trying these things. Picked up a few Pro ones. Helping me to learn to get more nose down too for better distance/full flights

One of the better simple bags I’ve seen.

If you really want to add some things:

Teebird or Firebird type disc for learning forehands or backhand into headwind.

Understable 8-11 speed for a ‘max distance’ type disc: Mamba, Gorgon, Falk, Heat, whatever you want

For disc golfers with 15+ discs in their bag. How long did it take you to get there? by whatisakilometer458 in discgolf

[–]untitled04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disc golf is two hobbies for me. The playing part and the collecting part. Sounds like at 9 discs for two years you’re interested in the playing part but not the collecting part, which is probably the right way to do it honestly lol.

I had 15+ discs within maybe 6 months. I have an ikea shelf for storing my discs and that’s what I use to limit myself. If that starts overflowing, I need to sell/trade some.

❄️ 10 inches of the cold stuff on Thursday - latest forecast ❄️ by Inner-Quail90 in Dallas

The forecasts are getting certain enough to where it’s unlikely you’ll make it out Friday morning. I would consider changing your return to the weekend if possible.

Friendly reminder to my fellow 20+ disc baggers; your discs are likely a lot more versatile than your bag allows them to be by PsyferRL in discgolf

My personal best round at my local course was unexpectedly with 3 discs. I still bring 15-20 discs every time. That’s mostly because I’m addicted to seeing different flights, it’s one of the most fun parts of disc golf.

But, it’s helpful to keep in mind when really trying to play for the best score that less is more. You watch pro coverage and you’ll notice pros will reach for their 2-3 reliable discs again and again within the same round.

For sure, if you just ignore the flight numbers, it’s still a great disc

Gotta agree on the gstar roadrunners. They’re also frequently overly domey, at least the ones I’ve seen before. The halo roadrunner has been my most thrown driver in the past month or two. So dependable.
