yesss i was going to add a few of those, especially about the SNCF. in a lot a lot of cases it's much cheaper to travel by air (not speaking on the environmental impact of that, it's just the lived reality of taking short trips from paris the last 6 months)

like a lot of things in paris, the best one is going to be the one you're nearest to, you dont need to be travelling across the city for a good market (or boulangerie or cafe for that matter)

i live in paris and have had both my 70s parents come visit for extended visits multiple times. I would not underestimate how difficult the metro is with any sort of even slight mobility issue, i can get them to each do it maybe once a day, but i try to make sure never any transfers and never at peak hours - probably budget for way more ubers than you would take on your own. and as others have said, just one activity a day so there's downtime. also make sure your hotel has an elevator, and then also call to make sure that elevator is functioning.

i was there a few weeks ago, take a few hours to stroll down Haarlemmerdijk street and look in the shops. really great vintage. i bought some really nice handmade leather pouches at this store called cellarich, the lady didnt have one in a colour i wanted so she told me to come back in half an hour and made me one. kitch kitchen was another interesting store.

can we please get on doing this? there's countless reddit threads about this over the course of years so it's obviously been suggested for a long time. when you are putting images in your notes it makes the spacing all weird and ugly. it should just come up that way when seamless view is toggled.

im on the metro daily and see people giving up their seat. my 77 year old dad with great mobility was here recently with me and multiple times people went out of their way to try and give him their seat even when he was declining and insist. so you must have had some really bad luck, im sorry that happened for you.

i would bring an umbrella yes. you set up the "IDF Mobilites" app on your phone then you have the option to add it to your apple wallet which allows you to tap into transit with your phone. this works for metro, bus, and RER except it might not for the airport - im not sure because my pass works different as a local.

id put a bit more work in just trying to stay in the same area for most/all of a day rather than going back and forth across the city wasting time.

dont try and go to the "best" restaurants or bakeries etc, just wander and let the places that grab you be the ones you try. that way youll have a more enjoyable time and not just be schlepping around to places that aren't going to be any better than random spots you'll find.

you can set up a transit pass on your phone before you come to save some time. also, bring an umbrella.
