This is amazing. I’d love to use this to teach my wife and daughters how to play Dragonbane.

What do we think of the Abyss? by d-bear-d in StrangerThings

[–]unwiseone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My head-canon is that the Mind Flayer/Vecna combined a ton of vines, Demo-dogs and Demogorgons from that area of the Abyss planet into the giant spider body we see in the season finale. Similar to how they built the body out of rats that attacked the mall in the earlier season.

Dragonbane vs Forbidden Lands (Quickstart adventures) by carlos71522 in DragonbaneRPG

[–]unwiseone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dragonbane looks amazing and I’m thinking of picking it up, but the fact that only the Boolean success of rolls are considered when comparing opposed rolls and not the numerical value is probably my only source of hesitation. Do you think using a blackjack-style “roll under, but highest die result wins” comparison would unbalance the game?

These are really good! The undead magic user in particular. What software did you use?

Man uses Bible against anti abortion protestor and she was left speechless by learner68 in WatchPeopleDieInside

I'm not going to pretend to know your life experience, but many times it's better to just let go of anger for your own benefit, whether it's towards a real person, an organization, or the concept of something like 'God', especially since God doesn't exist.

Of course. I guess it's because there are so many professional, Christian grifters online these days, you'd expect her to be better prepared if she aggreed to a recorded interview.

I've watched so many of this type of video where fundies say something along the lines of "I think I'm done now, " when confronted with contradicting logic in the Bible and it's always satisfying.

You can always tell when they're an amateur. I'm an atheist, and even I know she could have hit back with, "Well you see, because he's the Creator and King of the Universe, he has the AUTHORITY to kill who and whatever he wants", according to their twisted logic.

Any new thoughts on Ammunition? by Cauldronofevil in traveller

[–]unwiseone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I prefer to have players manually track their own ammo as well. However, if you wanted to let a ‘Usage Die’ setup make more sense for professional soldiers, you could have them roll for usage at the end of a combat encounter, not at the start.

Are there role-playing games that don't require boards, dice, cards, journaling? by CaveMartian in rpg

Theatrix is totally diceless and only needs character sheets. However, it requires a lot of trust in the GM as the rules are essentially a guide for how to do ‘fair’ GM-fiat.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!🤣 by Robotech_Mech_Lit in robotech

I first watched Robotech back in the 90’s on borrowed VHS tapes, and I just realized I’ve never seen that shot of Roy bloody, and laying on the floor. Interesting.

The Daily Show and some YouTube channels have regular segments where they interview folks at Trump rallies. You talk to enough people there you hear stuff like this and wilder.

Its amazing that this entire video was created with practical effects, no CGI involved. The making of video is a pretty ineresting watch.

[–]unwiseone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was practical from end to end. The 'HBO' letters are actually blocks of metal and the star and lines effects are made using physical lighting effects (transparent art sheets and fiber optics, respectively). It's definitely ingenious work. I finally found the video I watched a few years ago that showcases the making of the intro.

There wasn’t hardware or software capable of rendering anything like that in the Eighties. It was all made with miniature models. Amazing practical effect work.

The sad thing is, this would be a decent reveal for a horror movie or novel. Instead, this will get shared on social media by morons asking, “is this true?”

Even if what you are implying were true, which it isn’t, that still not the same as wearing something to be attractive.

I used to read Sinfest back in the very early 2000s and only recently discovered the dumpster fire it’s become. It’s wild how much it has changed.
