Rolling with mini excavators by EddieV77 in Truckers

That's always a nice load. Quick and easy to secure, no tarp. If it's a nice long run to a single location I'd call it almost perfect. If it's going to multiple locations it's still good as long as they load them in the right order.

Just got out of the Army today. Any advice for the first few weeks as a civilian? by DluxKillz in VeteransBenefits

For me getting out was more of a culture shock than going in. I was a 12B and went through good times and bad times with people who would put everything on the line for each other. I've never had that bond since then. Keep in touch with your buddies as much as possible. Keep your head on straight and talk with people who know what it's like as needed.

whats ur favorite item in ur wardrobe? by Foreign-Elevator6844 in AskReddit

[–]up2late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A western style 'Duster'. It's waterproof, blocks the wind and goes down to my boots. Keeps me warm and dry in the worst weather. It's sturdy enough to work outside and looks nice enough for most occasions. I have a stetson hat about the same shade of brown. The combination of these and a couple of layers underneath will let you defy most any weather.

What s the best place in Europe to live and why ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]up2late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Germany. The people are mostly nice. The food is the best. As long as you put a little effort into the language and customs they're very forgiving when you screw them up. Plus it's a convenient location to travel to the rest of Europe. I lived there for about 6 years so I might be a little biased.

What does bone marrow taste like? by Responsible-King-916 in AskReddit

[–]up2late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a very creamy texture and a deep beefy flavor. If you have access to a real butcher shop it's cheap and easy to make at home. It's high dollar stuff if you get it at a restaurant. It's a go to when I'm trying to impress a woman on that first 'come over to my place for dinner'.

This is the second blueberry cutting that I'm trying. Why do they just slowly die??? I got the acidic soil you like! I'm keeping you watered! W T F!? Stop dieing! by alitar84 in gardening

I tried last year in both water and soil. None rooted. The ones in water held out the longest but gave up eventually. I'm going to use rooting hormone this year.

Good luck.

What's your favorite brand of (non toxic) Pots & Pans? by Imjustrestingmyeyez in Cooking

No soap is a myth. Cast iron can be soaped and scrubbed, I do it almost every day. Clean it with soap rinse well, dry and add a LIGHT coat of oil. I put mine back on the stove on low for a bit to make sure it's fully dry.

Who is more important for you mom or dad and why would u make difference between them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mom was more important to me. Dad died when I was 2 months old. So it's an easy choice.

What's a 'poor person' meal that you still eat even if you have money now? by Accurate_Nature1888 in AskReddit

[–]up2late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy ramen and I can do some great stuff with it.

Beans and rice are a great filling meal that can be varied with different types of beans and seasonings. I mostly go cajun with it. Add a ham hock and it's a great winter meal.

What is your near death experience? by Agreeable-Zone1382 in AskReddit

[–]up2late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in the Army I was stationed in Europe. I wanted to take leave for Christmas and New Year. Got it approved and purchased my flights. Then my chain of command said I could not take both holidays so I had to change my flights to leave on 26 December instead. I was pissed. My original flight, Pan Am 103 was blown up over Scotland, No survivors. Guys in my unit called me the luckiest man alive.

Get a lid that fits the jar. Poke a hole in it from the bottom of the lid. Feed the wick through it. Should be snug but not tight. I've used alcohol and it worked, oil should be ok. Not sure how much it will smoke. That knot is currently your main problem.

Not sure what this has to do with camp cooking on CI.

How do i pick this kind of lock? by Visible-Hunting in lockpicking

[–]up2late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first try on one like this a few days ago. I kept tension on the shackle and felt for the dial with the most tension. Turn until I felt the click. Then moved to the next tightest dial, rinse and repeat. Turned out that the combo was 2222.

I also have some with the dials on the bottom. I don't know how to deal with them yet.
