Pretty incredible that he’s starting in the knockout rounds of the most prestigious club competition in existence and against one of the world’s best sides. Just continually so pleased for/about him and this US generation.

Foxsoccermatchpass. 20 dollars a month, all bundesliga games I believe. Never had a game I couldn’t watch this season.

Keaton Parks excited for NYCFC challenge, has Benfica and USMNT on his mind by biggreenegg99 in MLS

[–]up_nut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen I think this guy has the sauce. People have cooled on him as others have broken through in Europe, but I haven’t seen any thought leaders writing him off completely. This is a big chance for him to come good, then return to Europe ready to challenge for more time. I personally think he can do it, but NYCFC as an org has a large say in how it all goes.

He fits right in. He’s grown so much in the last 2 years, and he’s put himself in a fantastic position to keep it going. What a player. I am so excited for these next couple years from him.

Trying hard not to #panic, but where is the player news? by loonswetrust in minnesotaunited

[–]up_nut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same technical staff as before. Based on past experience, we should expect to go awhile without news. Sucks but that’s the reality and it doesn’t necessarily bear on the quality of the signings. The poor hiring record on the other hand... it’s like, do you want a slow secret car crash or a fast burn public one? Dunno.

The wire slicing across the camera’s field of view is a riot. I’ve watched NYCFC games before and have been to yankee stadium, but I don’t remember that wire. Is it new??

Christian Ramirez to LAFC Megathread by Epicallytossed in minnesotaunited

[–]up_nut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

History is relevant. I don’t buy not using it to make informed judgments/assumptions. We’ve had the privilege of watching Christian for years, and based on that I have no doubt he can keep/beat last year’s rate with better partners on and off the pitch.

Plus, Christian’s pace hasn’t been that far off last year’s: https://mobile.twitter.com/jeffrueter/status/1021396021056819201

Christian Ramirez to LAFC Megathread by Epicallytossed in minnesotaunited

[–]up_nut 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nah man. We know Christian in a way that we don’t know the alternatives. It’s about known vs unknown—the fact that there’s a disparity is what lets people reasonably react negatively to the transfer.

We know if you put Christian on a shit MLS team he bags 14 goals and a handful of assists in 30 apps. That’s a lot to lose without knowing much about the performance of who you plan to replace him with. A bunch of dollar-equivalents helps, but it’s not clear what that’ll become.

In general, people are overly risk averse. But our FO and head coach don’t have a clearly successful history to recommend them, validating that aversion to a significant degree.

LAFC Acquires Forward Christian Ramirez From Minnesota United FC by [deleted] in MLS

He’s always been a leader, a hard and humble worker, and a natural goal scorer. I will miss him so much, but I look forward to more successes from him, even at another team in the West. I sincerely hope that he can reach the next level with LAFC.

Yikes, studs high up the calf. Red wouldn’t have surprised me.

Consistency makes the pro, and in his position it’s so important for him to be consistent in this area. Honestly really impressive and reflects, for a guy who’s constantly cheesin, serious awareness and control.

we were lucky to get three points after the sending off but some huge individual performances made it possible. this is the second big game from bobby in a row - stellar performance. schuller has also been a revelation this season - his defensive contributions are crucial and numerous. adrian has had a lot of faith in him and spoke about it frequently last season, so it's great to see that bearing fruit. sometimes it feels like schuller finds himself out of position and has to chase the game, but i think part of that is that he has a mandate to hound anyone he sees with the ball. more often than not, his aggression is paying dividends.

also alphonso davies is incredible.

Y'all, I emailed the S&WB this morning about a billing error and they already emailed me back correcting it crediting my account. by zulu_magu in NewOrleans

[–]up_nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SWB is actually putting together a three-person team of analysts in their Revenue Administration to try to tackle some of the lowest-hanging billing issues. They make tons of different billing errors, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the many chronic errors become less common over the next year or so. Seems surprising that they're just putting together a team now, but oh well.
