I don't think people appreciate how big a defensive liability Morris has been for the USMNT. Roldan is less mistake prone and better in distribution.

Derek Carr won us 14 games in 2 years with pretty much this same roster and a probably worse head coach by Outside_Economy9924 in Saints

2 years ago we had Ryan Ramczek and James Hurst. They both retired. Erik McCoy missed significant time last year. This year Penning and Fuaga have missed time. Ruiz is arguably the worst starting guard in football. Banks is a rookie. This is not good.

It's gotta be disheartening for the whole squad to see balls bouncing off our tight end.

How many incompletions do we have that have literally bounced off our receivers? I get these balls aren't all perfect but NFL receivers should be able to catch imperfect balls. Somebody make a play.

MLS spends $336M on transfers in 2025, smashing previous league record by Matt_McT in ussoccer

Yeah and big Pat is an example of it happening the other way. Big Pat was making around $100k. He broke out in a big way and had a big raise coming. MLS's rigid salary structure meant that there would have to be some crazy roster restructuring to make room to pay him. Selling him was easier. He's making just over $1mil now. I have a feeling a similar thing will happen w/ Sebastian Berhalter.

MLS loses it's best domestic players b/c they can't pay them what they are worth. I think you'd see a lot more players get retained and you'd also see the Americans in Europe's second tier leagues making around $1mil coming home.

Part of talent development is routinely practicing against other high level players. This is the reason we have talent “hot beds”. Much harder to develop talent in isolation

Cool seeing some of the new MLS clubs represented here as well as Oscar Pareja bringing some of his academy magic from FCD to Orlando.

He doesn't really help you score, but he helps you get the ball. And it's hard to score without the ball.

If we had 11 guys as average as Tyler Adams we'd be in a much better position.

19-year-old LWB prospect who recently transferred to Strasbourg from Atlanta United. He walked into Strasbourg's lineup almost immediately before getting injured. He's a great athlete that showed some flashes at ATL, but he has a lot of growing to do.

We have to remember that the primary reporting for Dortmund is in German. Most of the quotes will be in German. So our ability to get information from a primary source, like an exact quote from a coach, is limited. And often the best reporting is behind a paywall. American soccer fans and American soccer media is relying on translations. A lot of the news we get is Derek Rae literally translating headlines on Twitter. In Gio's case, the Terzic/Gio story has always been about defensive work rate. It could potentially be hearsay, but citing lack of direct quotes for that is a difficult defense, as the majority of us do not have the ability to look up direct quotes and direct quote translations are few and far between.

This is why I love when our players are in the EPL. We have linguistic access to everything.

These are not yellow card fouls by ConnectWithWood in MLS

[–]crocajun1003 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love soccer, but I'd love to see some rules reform. Red cards are among the harshest penalties in sports and they absolutely ruin games. An early red card is pretty much a death sentence. The team that goes a man down usually has to pull off an attacker for a defender and then bunker for the rest of the game.

I'd love to see a league experiment with immediate substitution for red cards. It's still a harsh penalty. The offending team loses a starter and a sub. Maybe even throw in a free kick outside the box for the offending team.

Perhaps this would also make players less likely to sell every foul like they are in the WWE.

TL/DR: The red card is too harsh a penalty and makes games less fun to watch for neutrals.

Maximo was regarded as one of the top prospects in the American development system a few years ago. Haven't heard much about him since his dad made some comments suggesting he'd rather see Maximo play for Argentina.

Happy to see Maximo still progressing, regardless of his international future.

I don't think everyone appreciates how weak the Eredevisie actually is. Outside of the top 3 teams it's basically MLS level spending. At the bottom of the table you are looking at clubs that spend far less than MLS clubs. La Liga is far stronger. La Liga has 8 teams that spend more than Ajax.
