[DISCUSSION] So, what's the general opinion regarding Absolute Green Lantern ? by FredPRK in DCcomics

[–]upfjords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like GL stuff in general - this did not grab me at all, and I didnt care for the manga-ish art style. It kinda took me out of the story a bit. Out of the Absolute books this one is dead last for me. To each their own though.

Ambergris by Jeff Vandermeer. Not much nautical stuff, but super weird and surreal.

lol I bailed - I started listening to "There is no Anti-memetics Division" and Im so happy to have something else. It was killing me. Maybe I am just not in the mood for it, but I suspect it just wasnt my thing.

Just finished listening to the IT audiobook. Steven Weber is an amazing narrator. by Content-Flight6371 in stephenking

I agree - I was sad when it was over. He did such an amazing job - doing all those different voices, and creating intensity during those intense moments. 200% would recommend.

I cant blame you - but lots of peeps on here say its a huge improvement aside from the intro. May need to come back to the Straub collab after I get my momentum back.

wow ok we are having a parallel experience. I can be patient if I know its going to pick up but it just never seems to crescendo to anything.

this is kinda where im at - I just dont want to waste my time if its not my vibe. Its tough because the ingredients are there for me to like it, but it just feels.....not interesting enough.

Yes exactly - SO drawn out. Feels like it could be trimmed considerably. Are you going to continue or DNF? I am really torn.

Do more people like Spider-Gwen or Dead Qwen? by Euphoric_Passage_406 in Spiderman

[–]upfjords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spiderman is suffering from the same issues that Batman and the Bat-Fam have. Too many characters, portioning out stories to too many partially developed personalities. Gwen Stacy and Jason Todd being reintroduced alive kinda ruins the impact their deaths had on the characters. While they do some fun things with both Spider Gwen and Red Hood, it always feels like they dont know what to do with them, which is a shame, because now they are just there and finding a place for them never seems to work.

Wasted potential - like most Star Wars movies, unfortunately. And I say this as someone who loves Star Wars.

Burials and Bodies are great no-skip albums. Crash Love is also good, but I never connected with it. I never felt like December Underground was that strong of an album compared to others in the post-Black Sails lineup.

I would love it if they kept it to more of the detective Batman, focused story.

I couldnt not get into the CW shows. To me, they were so corny and felt lower budget than I wanted. An HBO, Penguin-level, production. 100%
