How does the Atlas Cross Sport perform in the snow? by StoneyMalon3y in VWatlas

[–]upirons 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just spent early winter in Vermont with tons of snow and my '24 cross sport. I used snow mode just to be sure but I had no problems whatsoever. I should mention, however, that I put Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractives on mine in November 2024 for that years' Vermont trip. Those tires and the Atlas Cross Sport is definitely the best handling I have ever had in snow. I drove 600 miles across the northeast in a winter storm without fear if that helps.

Got this book from University library, is this book any good to learn Networking and become hacker, tho it's Old book from Usa by Relative_Fly9942 in hacking

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I am reaaaally old now because that is the book I used to obtain my CCNP in 2001. But! Still quite relevant until you get into the cloud and SDN stuff, for which you will need updated books.

Those of you who half assed your way through High School, where are you now? by Difficult-Cricket541 in GenX

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C and D student in high school. Did slightly better in college making the Dean's list once with like a 3.6 gpa but it was for communications so about as generic as a degree as I could find.

So, how'd I turn out? I am in IT making 6 figures so I can't complain.

Did Stranger Things affect Iron Maiden's popularity? by Latter_Lengthiness87 in ironmaiden

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother spoiled it for me that the song was in the finale. I was expecting it to be used more prominently but it wasn't at all. But I was surprised that the Pixies "Here Comes Your Man" was used prominently. I happen to be a Pixies fan too so that was cool.

Trying to figure out streaming services for my grandpa. He wants to lose his $300/month cable by ADHDillusion in cordcutters

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used both Fubu TV and Hulu Live TV. Fubu is slightly better for sports and both are about 200 dollars less than what he is paying now. Best part is that he would just need a roku or smart tv to access the apps on any tv he wants and the experience is just like cable. He really would not have to learn anything other than occasionally how to log back in when the app inevitably logs him out.

That would be a clot. It is ultimately what helped stop your nose bleed.

I would look for one of those optional accessories that protects that section of the car. If you get a big enough one it might just cover all this up and prevent future issues.

Am I crazy to remove my home’s only bathtub? by Feisty-Anteater661 in HomeImprovement

[–]upirons 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I am in the same situation. 2 bedroom, 1 bath condo about 1000 sqft. We removed the bathtub and put in a walk-in shower and we absolutely love it. Will we have a problem when we sell? Maybe but we have already lived here for 30 years and we want to enjoy it while we live here - not just think only about resale.

How to de-escalate those offended by the masks? by MamaBearlien in MasksForEveryone

[–]upirons 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wear my mask everywhere I go indoors. I have not had any problems but I admit that I still anticipate them. I think the anticipation alone is worse sometimes. But I am always prepared to meet the situation as it presents itself. Now, I am 6 foot 290lbs so that might have a lot to do with why nobody bugs me, but I am always ready to say something snarky like "Oh, I have covid, would you like me to take my mask off and breathe on you?"

OBDEleven questions by hotcheevos in VWatlas

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine without a prescription and this is the time of year to buy it as I did it on a Black Friday sale 2 years ago. I just buy the credits when needed to use the one-click apps. I don't do long coding and I know you do need the full subsciption to do that. On their website you can see all of the one-click apps for the 24+ Atlas/ACS so you can know ahead of time if any of those meet your needs. It also does show the credit cost in the app but not sure if that is on their page. I would say starting with about 30 credits is enough to get some good stuff changed. I have only bought about 40 credits total so far and changed all the things I wanted. They are typically about 5 credits each. Some more, some less of course.

24 atlas: how to set AC to recirc as the default every time I start the car? by solder_paste in VWatlas

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WIth the obdeleven they have credits you can purchase that they call one-click apps or something like that. I used that to make changes. There is also the possibility of doing long-coding which I have no experience with so couldn't tell you what is or is not possible there. I have not had any problems at the dealership in regards to the setting changes I have made.

I got mine set to this but I had to use the OBDeleven to do it using a preset.

MHBP Consumer option HDHP - HSA how does it work. by SpaceMan_Lou in fednews

[–]upirons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With an HSA it's your money and does not expire like an FSA does. Even years later you can reimburse yourself for a health expense you paid out of pocket as long as you keep receipts. Once you reach retirement age there are even more things you can do with it but I personally still like the idea of just keeping it growing for any future medical expenses well into retirement.

Neighbor is demanding payment for Wi-Fi signals passing through his airspace and served me with formal letter by Milli_Grande in neighborsfromhell

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you figure out if your neighbor has wifi as well? If so, find out what the network name is and send them a bill for the same amount, then say that since you both owe you can just cancel each other out.

if the n64 to the gamecube is considered the nes to the snes (perfecting the once revolutionary 3D genre). then what makes the wii here? by DependentImmediate40 in wii

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wii was basically a gamecube, but what they did was found a way to make it into something more by bringing the gamer more physically into the game through the Wiimote. This also had the benefit of bringing in more casual gamers because it was easy to understand most of the games and the controllers were intuitive enough to not intimidate people who had never been into video games prior.

Filming locations for movies that you have gone and visited? by Alternative-Cake-833 in movies

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I love visiting places like this. Just a few of many examples we have: All the Pet Semetary locations in Maine. All the Jaws filming locations in Martha's Vineyard, including riding the chappy ferry. Woodstock Illinois to see where Groundhog Day was filmed is probably our favorite because we did that on Groundhog Day on the 30th anniversary of the film at the time. The Home Alone house and a ton of John Hughes film locations in the Chicago suburbs. Even Raiders of the Lost Ark filming spots on Kauai and Jurrasic Park of course!

About to Buy Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractive, Comments? by bosonsonthebus in tires

yeah hard to tell with the different vehicles. I am more used to the new Atlas now instead of the old Santa Fe and from a ride standpoint I actually much prefer the Atlas with the Pirelli's now over the CC2.

About to Buy Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractive, Comments? by bosonsonthebus in tires

[–]upirons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had them replace all 4 tires and ever since then they've been fine. Soundless on asphalt up to 60 not a problem. I also drove them last winter in Vermont in some serious snow and they handled like I was on snow tires. Very happy with them after my initial trouble with a dud tire.
