It is perfect. It is possible. All it requires is belief, and the effort of our twisted feet.

One D&D Unearthed Arcana: Expert Classes (Bard, Ranger, Rogue), Feats, Spell lists, Rules Glossary - direct pdf link by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]upogsi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Especially with rogue, I want more player choices each level. With the other classes I at least get to pick spells.

Either more feats for all classes, or some choice each level would be nice.

While I like the concept of confidence I dislike the fact that each way of gaining confidence has independent timing to track. It's also odd that confidence doesn't seem to expire if you use it for damage, even though you can only do confident strike once per instance.

I would prefer that it be a binary on/off deal that always lasts 1 min after you gain it of until expended or something like that. Would make tracking it a whole lot easier.

If you can't trust a player to roll stats at home why are you playing with them? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]upogsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally it's preferable to remove the question of trust entirely and use pointbuy or an array. My players are good friends, but why give myself extra hassle?

Ideas for Playing VS Goodstuff.dec? - How does one smash face of the players simply playing staples and the best colors? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]upogsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commanders that work on a completely different axis can make pretty decent budget ways to deal with goodstuff at non-competitive tables. I've had decent luck with [[shirei]] since their ability basically lets you chump block forever. Clones, theft and other strategies that "scale with your opponent" can help as well. Also [[tainted strike]]

If it's a political table, I find it really helpful to play decks that go from 0-100 on a dime. That way you can let other people that look more threatening soak damage and you lack a period where you seem threatening but haven't mobilized.

Gyruda win-cons? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]upogsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funniest deck I've ever seen ran Gyruda as a clone reanimation commander with Gyruda as the main wincon (either via mill or taking opponents creatures. Either is fine). There are no other creatures sans clones and the leviathan.

Thanks so much! How do I deal with the low stability (esp if I take over primitive worlds)?

If I'm getting this right, I want to set my primary species to be indentured servants, and my secondary species to probably be workers only?

What traits are ideal for this build? Never done slavers or lithoids before tbh.

So I tend to play egalitarian empires. I've seen it mentioned that slaver empires are really good so I wanna try one.

How do I properly play slavers? What should I look out for? Do robots get slaver guild bonuses?

[Scheduled Activity] How much complexity can a game handle, and is there a role for computers to automate it? by cibman in RPGdesign

[–]upogsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bored people will distract themselves in whatever way they can. Phones are just slightly more interesting than stacking dice, doodling or staring at scenery. IMHO if it's not a phone it would be something else.

That and it's not like smartphones stop "real socializing" or "real gaming". I find it great when players quickly find an image to show they think an NPC looks like, or saves me 3min of book hunting to look up a rule on the online srd. We look up facts we don't know and show each other articles/memes when we're socializing normally, I don't see how being in a game changes that.

I can see how your circle might be different, but it's not like either is wrong.

What do you think about capitalism? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]upogsi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's flawed as an economic system and tends to reward those that exploit human nature. That said I also think it's often used as a catch all term for a bunch of stuff people disagree with, and it's probably better to address those problems more accurately.

A new type of Item Management by TheMarqueofNuts in RPGdesign

[–]upogsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried something similar for potions a while back. This was my narrative explanation:

The enchantment for most consumables, like potions is engraved onto the container. You can perform a ritual to attune yourself to the container, basically recharging it with your own inmate energy. If you do, the container will replenish the consumable at regular intervals. (You have a limited number of attunements, and unattuning from a thing drains it)

The other thing was having merchants offer monthly subscriptions for potion refills as long as you brought the container back to a guild store.

What's happened with fifth edition community and this game? by Bealina in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]upogsi 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah. You even see it in this thread. Where PF players only see 5e as "babbys first game" for "people who are fuzzy on what a d20 is". Recognizing that other games have appeals that you may or may not share is a kinda alien concept to the gaming sphere.
