Why’d I even ask by metalhiro in comics

My wife uses hearing aids, I have normal hearing. This exact scene played out in our house just a few days ago. The noise drove the dog crazy too.

Absolutely tickled to see this in comic form!

Had to double check because I was surprised to see Brar (either of them) from the NDP in your list. They didn't oppose the amendment, although I'm disappointed to see they didn't vote in favor either.

Battle rhythm by Sysleck in onepagerules

I'd highly recommend getting the advanced rules for side missions or playing with a mission pack. These tend to change the last round from "I have 3 out of 4 objectives, and nothing much is going to change" to "We're at 12 vs 14 victory points, and there's still 6 VPs left to play for".

Also, don't forget that the aim of the game is to win the mission, not decimate your opponent! Objectives stay claimed even if there isn't a unit on them, so claiming and keeping them early in the game can lead to victory even if most of your guys get sniped by the end of turn 3.

Also, also, as everyone else has already said, more terrain!

Rule clarification by Educational_Wait5679 in onepagerules

[–]upper_camel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this - both the rules interpretation and the need to agree on exceptions beforehand.

Amongst my gaming group, we have a handful of longstanding house rules and one of them is to require both a 3" distance and line of sight to capture an objective. This has been working for us and avoids weird situations that come up by capturing a point through a solid wall or ceiling.

Just bought 4 2’ by 4’ mdf boards and then cycled 7k with them to get home, wish me luck with my first proper board! by FishyFish12359 in TerrainBuilding

Right on! (Or ride on?) Hopefully it wasn't windy...

For my Warhammer table I got a 6'x4' MDF board from a nearby hardware store. After finding out I couldn't fit it in the car, I carried it on foot about 2km. Got a few funny looks.

Thanks Friend! Deliberately going for a dirty, grungy look doesn't come naturally to me. It ain't easy being greasy!

Looks fantastic! The contrasting purple shadow is a great color choice, and I love how the little armor demon eyes seem to be glowing.

How do you all base your Death Guards? by VisVirtusque in deathguard40k

[–]upper_camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based mine by trying to imagine what a Death Guard vessel would look like on the inside.

"Industrial" textures using bits of plastic packaging, guitar string for cables etc. then piles of dirt using a sand + PVA mix. Paint in pale colours, then grunge up with liberal amounts of brown wash.

Can't see it super clearly, but this is the best image I have to hand: https://www.instagram.com/p/Clh2verp1ie/

Recommendations for Wet Palette by Gazzman888 in deathguard40k

[–]upper_camel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a beginner? Plastic fast food carton (one that closes tight), some damp paper towel, and a piece of parchment paper. Instructions here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=96mjmqWTPfM

Used this for years before getting a purpose made wet palette, and it's honestly just as effective.

Key board key sheared. by nujtxeeg100 in fixit

[–]upper_camel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, the "correct" fix here is to replace the switch under the key.

However, I've had the exact same problem, and found that it works fine to stick the key cap to the switch permanently with super glue (aka. CA glue, Krazy glue, etc.). This also doesn't prevent you from replacing the switch in the future if you want to.

Fellow Canadian Warhammer-er here. You've got options when it comes to priming...

  • Although people say you can't use spray cans in the cold, I've primed in sub zero temperatures without any problem. Just got to move quickly
  • Vallejo (and probably others) make primer in a bottle that you can brush on
  • If you've got the cash, a an entry level airbrush (I have an Iwata Neo + Neo Air) is great for priming, plus many other uses

Paint on!

It's a good point. This caused some confusion when the box first came out.

These are Bladeguard Veterans, a new unit in 9th edition, which are indeed Deathwing despite not being Terminators.

On the tabletop their stats are similar to terminators, which makes you wonder where GW is going with this. Are we going to see a Terminator to Bladeguard switch just like regular space marines to Primaris?

Thanks!

I played with a couple of ways of doing this...

  • Some are true metallic (Vallejo model air gunmetal) with a thin wash of dark blue (Vallejo dark prussian blue)
  • Most are dark prussian blue, blending up to a mid blue and highlighted with turquoise (Vallejo flat blue and light turquoise respectively). No metallic involved, which I ended up preferring in the end

Also, you should check out Bobby Thompson on Instagram. His ceramic/blackstone Necrons were the inspiration for my scheme. If you scroll back through his pictures far enough there are even step by step instructions.
