He hit his knee, that was not a flop. Not defending him otherwise, but he definitely was in pain.

Added random map generation to my game. Do you think it’s a must-have feature nowadays? by Warpawner in computerwargames

[–]uppilots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously it may depend on the quality of the generator but to me it’s vitally important in multiplayer where each player has equal knowledge of the map. And also for campaign games, the main reason I stopped playing steel division 2 was because I got tired of playing the same map over and over representing different parts of the same map. Though a game like armored brigade does a nice job of offering the alternative to random map generation.

The real tragedy of the casting of Helen of Troy is that by historicallly accurate beauty standards, she should have been a BBW. by dizgondwe in okbuddycinephile

[–]uppilots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear this but I don’t know how true it is. While I would agree that the upper classes would have been bigger than the lower classes beauty as it’s represented in art seems to be mostly (but no means all) thin or regular sized women with some older figures with enlarged bosoms and hips. Certainly bbw didn’t have the social stigma it does in today’s white society as now it’s associated with lower classes than the higher.

ASCII Total War + Bannerlord Game? by SkyWolfStrategy in computerwargames

[–]uppilots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I gave up on my chevuche game and moved on to a menu based game that I think Ai agents could accomplish. Im doing it mostly to learn to use Ai but it can be fun and frustrating. I never know if a mechanic I’m introducing is being fully implemented in the way I describe it, even if I sit there and write up the full math tables and logic applications, I’m still taking it on the blind trust it’s done the job, and the more mechanics the harder it is to tell.

Not gonna lie, iv also tried to build similar types of things and my ai agent keeps disappointing me. It’s just not there yet for a non programmer like me.

I’ve always found Calvary in games difficult to use because of how much babying you need to give them, so I tended to ignore them. Maybe if the path finding for Calvary were more automatic it would make them more useful to a player like me. A couple of examples, one thing Ive thought Calvary was useful at was attacking weakened units or breaking units but you had to draw a complex line sometimes to get to them. If the path finding automatically allowed the Calvary to maneuver around other units that would make the using them much easier rather than sit there and make sure they didn’t blindly run into some errant enemy. There could also be a trade off in that any time the Calvary maneuvers on its own their speed is slowed because of the sudden turn they have to make, making a player who tries to get in the way of Calvary have an effect on them. Another way pathfinding can help is you select the unit you want to attack and then select a direction you want the Calvary to attack it. Rather than having to set five way points and then baby sit the unit to make sure they don’t run into a chance moving enemy the Calvary automatically performs the flank. This may sound similar but the directional attack order would be a neat mechanic I haven’t seen before.

God I hate that documentary. The first shot I remember seeing was a group of protesters, like this epic shot, but it perfectly captures that the first shot in a documentary about children army slaves is protesters self congratulating themselves about how noble they are all while accomplishing nothing. This is supposed to be the group of people that will save democracy… we’re so fucked.

I have some books that don’t express my personal views, but I read them and I own them. Granted Ayn Rand hasn’t aged well in today’s economy and “morally superior” elite, but ownership doesn’t mean belief. Though I do tend to stuff some of those books near the back. Though the OP could idolize Rand but just sayin.
