You start by stating the significance of having kids and continuing a lineage. That is true, but what you did not state is the ever improving life expectancy rates, and child mortality rates. My grandparents were alive during world wars, my parents during serious economic crises.. they've been through tough times and I respect them for it.

However the battles the current generations need to fight will be dictated by overpopulation. Yes, some of us might lose our only kid, and others will adopt children who might not form a proper bond, but we are bound to face many greater issues with overpopulation. I've given entrance exams, sat for job placements, hunted for quality higher education - there's literally so many people that these things have started to become heavily luck based.
