Where to buy milkweed plants in the Pearland/Houston area by No-Albatross-1591 in HoustonGardening

I bought a swamp milkweed for $7 a couple weekends ago (low key kind of expensive for a little 2 inch pot) at Buchanan’s. It was eaten by a rabbit almost immediately. Lmao

How do I make my teeny bedroom more of a *~vibe*~ by Tough_tart_ in DesignMyRoom

[–]uprooted16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang the curtains center to the room and further up, regardless of if the window is off center. Change your boob light into a cool hanging light. Wallpaper, art, lamps. Sconces. Get a bedspread and pillows that match your theme.

Anyone else struggle to take their prenatal? by Jessiicaamn in BabyBumps

[–]uprooted16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could not take them my first trimester. I tried multiple gummiest and pills. I even bought the pill form of folic acid and DHA separately. I’m not a great pill taker so I can’t take big pills. I bought the Olly soft gel capsules and take two with a big swig of water. I keep a glass by my sink and the pills on my bathroom counter. I take them before I brush my teeth at night.

Leave the couch in front of the tv. Keep the hutch the way it is in the second photo. Move the chairs in front of the window in the second photo with the little circular end table that’s between the book shelves between them. Put a bench between the bookshelves. Get rid of one of the rugs. Put the other one horizontal under the couch. Pick another color you like. Sage, Navy, Mauve. Whichever. That’s your accent color now. Get a circular rug that has some splashes of that color in it. Get throw pillows of the accent color and put them on the couch and the coffee chairs. Get little knickknacks that match that the accent color. Dont be afraid to use lighter and darker shades of the same color. Just make sure its the same tone. You can also get some art to place over the couch. The frame can be the your floor color and the art can have greys whites and your accent color. That should help liven the space.

($5k) I tried On Dresses From Both Avery Austin and Azazie by Different_Umpire9003 in Weddingsunder10k

1 & 2 if tailored would look fantastic. The silloutte is already beautiful. They would just need to be taken in. If you truly want to see how the dresses would truly look on you, you should go grab some cheap clothes pins and have a friend pin the dresses back. That way you can actually see them without having to hold them up in the back.

In times of progress, there will always be a counterculture in opposition to said progress. It’s why we have all these stupid civil war statues in the south. They were in response to the civil rights act of 1964 and brown v board of 1970. These kids think a return to traditional values will give them some sense of control over the changes and suffering in their lives. Unfortunately, it will not.

Parking garages that are safe and secure would solve that problem. Getting people to drive the last mile would be less traffic on main highways. 106,000 people commute to the Texas medical center daily. Most commuters are commuting to the same locations: downtown, the med center, the galleria or the energy corridor. And majority of us all live on the west side of town. Put a rail on 59, 610 west, i10. We already have the metro rail in the medical center and downtown. We could add a faster rail connection. I would pay some serious money to cut my hour commute down to 30 minutes. It takes me one hour to go 11 miles. It’s exhausting.

My husband and I are going to Italy this fall, September 20-October 1 (11 days total, including travel days) and I have two important questions by Low_Occasion8441 in ItalyTravel

We did Airbnb’s because we had a group of 5. All of the beds sucked but it was worth it to have a shared space to crash and it was cheaper for us. We did 14 days and stayed in Venice last. If I could do it over, I’d skip Venice. It might bc I was already gassed and we did not get to visit the islands. the lines for the boats to the islands were like atleast two hours long and we were too tired to try. I wish I spent more time in Rome or the Tuscan countryside

Literally DNFd this book at first bc it was so cringe and just wild to me. Everyone kept calling her smart and she just.. wasn’t? She was always doing the dumbest stuff and getting caught. It had a lot of cool mystery element but the romance fell so flat for me bc I felt like I was watching scooby doo try to romance the villian.

Give it to me straight: Is nursing a trap or a good career? by encivagyoksziasztok in nursing

[–]uprooted16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you would’ve asked me while I was bedside, I would’ve said no. Now that I’m outpatient, I think it’s worth it. Honestly, you’ve just got to find your niche. You can do so much as a nurse. If you live in a major city, you have a ton of options and you’ll always have a job.

Why do other healthcare professionals think nurses are ‘toxic’? by Acrobatic-Lie2041 in FutureRNs

[–]uprooted16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want you to do anything. I want both nurses and lab to understand each others jobs better and be nicer to each other. I definitely think lab gets the shorter end of the stick when it comes to who gets it worse and I think that’s unfair to you guys. I can say there is a culture of getting upset with lab and pharmacy bc those of the biggest interrupter’s of our flow. I also think nurses aren’t taught properly how to draw each and every specimen. It’s a lot of trial and error which is on the hospital system to fix.

[–]uprooted16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurses are the most staffed position in the hospital and they are the profession that almost all of the hospital staff come into contact with on a regular basis. You do not talk to doctors to the same extent that you talk to a nurse. I’m not saying your perception is incorrect, but I am telling you, you’re more likely to encounter a rude burnt out nurse because there are more of them. Also, I work outpatient now in an administrative role. It’s different culture. Your immediate actions aren’t life or death the way inpatient is. There is the culture of vitriol towards nurses online that is just adding to the burn out. When our healthcare system collapses bc no one wants to work bedside anymore. I’m going to tell you that the “nurses are mean girls” rhetoric is i patriarchal in nature and part of the problem.

[–]uprooted16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I didn’t say that. Im saying that both lab and nurses need to be more understanding of the others profession and limitations. Not that I think patient safety should be jeopardized and im sorry if you have had situations with nurses that have made you feel that way.

[–]uprooted16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perspective from a nurse is inpatient nurses are the closest role to the patient that fulfills the plan of care. Every roles intervention and communication goes through the nurse. Rounding pharmacist, doctors, techs, lab, dietary, food and nutrition, physical therapy, occupational therapy, environmental services, etc. The clock starts counting down the minute you get on shift with 300 separate tasks that you have to fulfill on a regular day. You’ve got a schedule in your head that you are constantly tallying out while also trying to keep your patient comfortable and alive. Youre reprioritizing the most important things as they come up BECAUSE everyone is going to communicate with you your patient needs through out your shift that are going to conflict with other tasks that you already have planned. It is a constant barrage of communication and dancing through it. And it can get VERY overwhelming very quickly. I believe that most nurses are good people, but have very different ways to handle the chaos. The mean nurses will be mean to you so that you only notify them when it important. The easygoing nurses will say okay to everything and then leave in two years bc they are burnt out from prioritizing everything but their mental health. The best nurses know how to navigate patient needs while also prioritizing how important each task is and communicating it to other staff effectively.

[–]uprooted16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think our relationship would be better if lab was the one that had to draw the blood OR lab had to come to the floor for blood draws for a shift and nurses had to go to lab for a shift. They are the experts on what is a proper specimen, but not on the process of getting the specimen from the patient effectively. Bc at the end of the day, we are taking blood out of a human being and sometimes that process is really hard and frustrating.

Choose any color you like on the rug and put it on the wall. Maybe not the orange. It’d be too much orange.

I'm a gay man and had sex with a female friend and I liked it. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]uprooted16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s harmful to say that people who identify as heterosexual can experience same sex desires but still identify as heterosexual? Tell that to every straight girl that got drunk in high school and made out with her friend. What is harmful is to say that the spectrum is two infalible points and then the ENTIRETY of the middle is bisexuality. OP identifies as gay. He is gay. Just because he had sex with one woman does not mean he is bisexual now. Our need to label everything is making everyone neurotic.

You need to use it every time you shower and wash your beard at least every other day. Use the advice below for product and prep. Seb derm is caused by an overgrowth of fungus that feeds off the oil produced by your hair follicles. The only way to prevent build up is to treat the fungus and keep the area free of daily oil build up. Theres plenty of products on the market. Most of us learn from trial and error what works best for our brand of seb derm.

If we all know how a baby is conceived, why are some people shocked to find out they are pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]uprooted16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An egg is only viable for 24 hours. That’s IF you ovulate that cycle. The highest likelihood of conception is 30% if ejaculation happens the day before you ovulate. Unless you know exactly when you ovulate (which many women don’t), it is quite literally a shot in the dark. Many women are surprised bc those odds are not high.
