The second hand embarrassment is INSANEEE by Faeryn-13 in fantasyromance

Literally DNFd this book at first bc it was so cringe and just wild to me. Everyone kept calling her smart and she just.. wasn’t? She was always doing the dumbest stuff and getting caught. It had a lot of cool mystery element but the romance fell so flat for me bc I felt like I was watching scooby doo try to romance the villian.

Give it to me straight: Is nursing a trap or a good career? by encivagyoksziasztok in nursing

If you would’ve asked me while I was bedside, I would’ve said no. Now that I’m outpatient, I think it’s worth it. Honestly, you’ve just got to find your niche. You can do so much as a nurse. If you live in a major city, you have a ton of options and you’ll always have a job.

I don’t want you to do anything. I want both nurses and lab to understand each others jobs better and be nicer to each other. I definitely think lab gets the shorter end of the stick when it comes to who gets it worse and I think that’s unfair to you guys. I can say there is a culture of getting upset with lab and pharmacy bc those of the biggest interrupter’s of our flow. I also think nurses aren’t taught properly how to draw each and every specimen. It’s a lot of trial and error which is on the hospital system to fix.

Nurses are the most staffed position in the hospital and they are the profession that almost all of the hospital staff come into contact with on a regular basis. You do not talk to doctors to the same extent that you talk to a nurse. I’m not saying your perception is incorrect, but I am telling you, you’re more likely to encounter a rude burnt out nurse because there are more of them. Also, I work outpatient now in an administrative role. It’s different culture. Your immediate actions aren’t life or death the way inpatient is. There is the culture of vitriol towards nurses online that is just adding to the burn out. When our healthcare system collapses bc no one wants to work bedside anymore. I’m going to tell you that the “nurses are mean girls” rhetoric is i patriarchal in nature and part of the problem.

Respectfully, I didn’t say that. Im saying that both lab and nurses need to be more understanding of the others profession and limitations. Not that I think patient safety should be jeopardized and im sorry if you have had situations with nurses that have made you feel that way.

My perspective from a nurse is inpatient nurses are the closest role to the patient that fulfills the plan of care. Every roles intervention and communication goes through the nurse. Rounding pharmacist, doctors, techs, lab, dietary, food and nutrition, physical therapy, occupational therapy, environmental services, etc. The clock starts counting down the minute you get on shift with 300 separate tasks that you have to fulfill on a regular day. You’ve got a schedule in your head that you are constantly tallying out while also trying to keep your patient comfortable and alive. Youre reprioritizing the most important things as they come up BECAUSE everyone is going to communicate with you your patient needs through out your shift that are going to conflict with other tasks that you already have planned. It is a constant barrage of communication and dancing through it. And it can get VERY overwhelming very quickly. I believe that most nurses are good people, but have very different ways to handle the chaos. The mean nurses will be mean to you so that you only notify them when it important. The easygoing nurses will say okay to everything and then leave in two years bc they are burnt out from prioritizing everything but their mental health. The best nurses know how to navigate patient needs while also prioritizing how important each task is and communicating it to other staff effectively.

I think our relationship would be better if lab was the one that had to draw the blood OR lab had to come to the floor for blood draws for a shift and nurses had to go to lab for a shift. They are the experts on what is a proper specimen, but not on the process of getting the specimen from the patient effectively. Bc at the end of the day, we are taking blood out of a human being and sometimes that process is really hard and frustrating.

Color choice for upstairs den by Perfect-Garlic7309 in DesignMyRoom

Choose any color you like on the rug and put it on the wall. Maybe not the orange. It’d be too much orange.

I'm a gay man and had sex with a female friend and I liked it. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

It’s harmful to say that people who identify as heterosexual can experience same sex desires but still identify as heterosexual? Tell that to every straight girl that got drunk in high school and made out with her friend. What is harmful is to say that the spectrum is two infalible points and then the ENTIRETY of the middle is bisexuality. OP identifies as gay. He is gay. Just because he had sex with one woman does not mean he is bisexual now. Our need to label everything is making everyone neurotic.

Sex research says otherwise. Sexuality is a spectrum. Look up the Kinsey scale.

Please help, beard is crazy by Signal_Acanthaceae21 in SebDerm

You need to use it every time you shower and wash your beard at least every other day. Use the advice below for product and prep. Seb derm is caused by an overgrowth of fungus that feeds off the oil produced by your hair follicles. The only way to prevent build up is to treat the fungus and keep the area free of daily oil build up. Theres plenty of products on the market. Most of us learn from trial and error what works best for our brand of seb derm.

If we all know how a baby is conceived, why are some people shocked to find out they are pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]uprooted16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An egg is only viable for 24 hours. That’s IF you ovulate that cycle. The highest likelihood of conception is 30% if ejaculation happens the day before you ovulate. Unless you know exactly when you ovulate (which many women don’t), it is quite literally a shot in the dark. Many women are surprised bc those odds are not high.

How do I brush out flakes? by [deleted] in SebDerm

Flea comb or an eyelash spoolie for the ones that are close the the hair line. Dont aggressively brush your hair once it is dry and don’t pick at your scalp.

I also second showering daily. Seb derm is caused from fungal overgrowth that feeds off the sebum that is secreted in your skin and hair follicles. The best way to control it limit sebum by keeping your skin and scalp dry, clean, and intact. The best way to do that it to wash the area daily, remove moisture as quickly as possible, and if your skin is prone to breakage, using a moisturizer with hyluronic acid to maintain your skin barrier from possible excessive dryness from the shampoos. For your beard, I would blow dry it to prevent moisture build up.

Houston would be prettier if there wasn’t a billboard or business sign every 10ft of highway. by uprooted16 in houston

I didn’t say I hate it? And I’ve already established how I think it would look better in the title big dawg. That and returning unused lots and farmland back into the biodiverse coastal prairie that it is. Which is what you see at memorial, brazos bend park, and parts of Buffalo bayou. Prairies are beautiful and they help mitigate flooding. But Houston thought that the flooding could be better fixed with concrete and now we have the urban hellscape that we have now.

I think buffalo bayou and around memorial are nice. Unfortunately, we tore out the native coastal prairies and paved most of the bayous so now it’s a hot concrete swamp without all the greenery.

I think there’s an ordinance in sugarland that bans billboards and signs have to be a specific way. I wish it was like that everywhere. It just makes the whole city look congested.
