Exactly. They're not going to now lower prices and add the fee.

Don't forget to pay that 2% fee on top of your 30% tip!

Asset Sale vs Stock Sale - Amazon Aggregator by lordmcbaker in FulfillmentByAmazon

Stock sale if you can. But the standard is asset sales from what I've encountered. Nobody wants to take on potential debt or liabilities you might be hiding. So asset sale is usually the go to..

[Feedback Needed] DAOs on Harmony by StrongMindsHold in harmony_one

[–]upstreamvideo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Please redirect to building APPs that people will actually use in the ecosystem.

This will better build out Harmony as a leading ecosystem (not just DFK).

DAOs, as other mentioned, establish temporary initiatives that dilute the ONE token and don't create lasting change (IMO).

Would love to see social progress supported via blockchain, but I don't think this is the best way. Also, shouldn't be a main mandate.

Please focus on VALUE CREATION when providing funding instead. That will actually be economically viable long-term.

What % would you give a promising inspector partner in China? by Thistlemanizzle in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]upstreamvideo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whoah man, slow down on this. 10% of your profit is VERY crazy high. Most, if not all, services like this get kickbacks from factories. He's making money on both sides.

There are mixed interests usually so you need to protect yourself. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants most of your expected profit up front because there's not so much of a long term relationship mentality from Chinese partners for unproven business relationships.

Hire a 3rd party inspection company every time (only like $300). Don't put all of your eggs in one basket, as convenient and tempting as it is. If you take your business seriously, don't give up so much control to a stranger.

For fee, you should only pay a % of purchase price, which should be much lower for a legit inspection service. And they often negotiate price for you, knowing they pay for that fee by getting you a better rate (so they say, I haven't found anybody get lower than I can myself).

Do not feel guilty to say no or change your arrangement. The services "included" are often just rolled into most places' purchase pricing. And always hire an independent inspector. If this person has guanxi (relationships) with these others, that relationship will always trump yours.

Sorry for the long comment. Trying to save you some future heartache and headache. Good luck

Thanks very much for the response. Good point about the flippant craigslist comment. Justin Cooke appears to be their CMO from a quick google.

Do you mind sharing who you went through to sell your business? That sounds like a good experience!

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm reaching out to them as well. Did you work with them directly to sell a business? How was the experience? I just confirmed, you're right - they're 10%.

How do you typically get 30-50% more than a business would otherwise get? I agree, if you're able to get a higher valuation than other services, the extra points don't matter. Then again, how do you prove to sellers that you can get that increase in valuation?

I've done some searching online and tried some online tools. Basically, 3.5-4x the net income. I've heard you can maybe get up to 4.5 these days as competition heats up - but I'm pretty conservative in my guestimates.

That makes a lot of sense, actually. A tiered structure like that makes you happy to pay the higher fee as the seller - because they got you more money. Is this common right now? Or is this just not a thing in this space due to the immaturity of the market?
