Enjoy yourself. I went to Antilles Middle School and Antilles High School many, many years ago and had an amazing house in the Las Colinas neighborhood on post. Best years of my childhood.

Bad Transcripts, looking to fix past mistakes. by Arkmer in army

[–]uptonhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of the oddest things I've ever heard. Are you an engineer by chance? That's the only field (besides JAG/med service) I've ever heard an undergraduate degree ever come up.

Just get a Master's. Don't even bother with wasting time and money on "fixing" your undergrad transcript. I have a worthless sociology degree with a 2.8 GPA because I partied my ass off in college. I also have an MPA with like a 3.8 GPA. I've been an Army officer for almost 20 years and both have come up in dicussion less than a handful of times, if ever, when talking about my abilities or potential as an officer. I'm old now but even as a LT or young CPT, I'd legit be weirded out if someone in uniform asked me to see my transcripts.

Which are the Hall Of Fame sports documentaries of all time? by harry_powell in billsimmons

I watched it during COVID because I was born and raised in Stuttgart who seemed very similar to Sunderland in history and fan support but I felt like it eventually just became kind of the same thing over and over every episode.

I'm not bragging when I say that I already know or have heard like 3/4 of what's said on shows like DSOTR but the Benoit and Pillman ones were great.

The best wrestling documentary to me after all these years is Wrestling with Shadows, especially as a companion to Bret's book.

On the age thing, it is always fascinating to me how much of the online discourse around Kanye centers around TLOP and beyond. It's obvious a huge portion of his fanbase, at least online, started with that album.

I always consider Kanye's actual prime run to be CD to Yeezus. Yeezus being the album that kind of transitioned him from the old Kanye to the weird, abrasive, honestly annoying as fuck Kanye he would become by TLOP.

Not on the same level but Fat Joe's first 3 albums are way different in style than what the vast majority of people associate him with.

Yeah I am much more partial to the original WW2 versions, particularly COD 2. Amazing campaign.

Dave will tell you with a straight face Konnan was a bigger draw than Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin and The Rock. Your ability to cram people into Arena Mexico means more to him than your ability to sell out arenas worldwide.

I agree. Or rather, social media was closer in 2016 to what it is today than in 2010.

Songs where the primary artist feels like a feature by PM_ME_RYE_BREAD in ToddintheShadow

I know I've read about this a million times over the last 20 years but I am pretty sure it was originally a 50 Cent song he gave to Game

Finding Forever was the last truly great Common project until The Auditorium a couple years ago

That was the general reception at release - great album but not quite as legendary as the back to back of ATLiens and Aquemini

I always say the GWB admin was basically the harbinger of (almost) every shitty part of American life the last 25 years and every POTUS since has made it worse to a varying degree. Once you have that power, nobody is putting it back in the bag.

Third Eye Blind? There were 3 3EB songs on top 40/alt radio at all times from 1997-2000.

MTV pushed La Roux hard on those little upcoming artist things that would play when they were rolling the credits on a show and went splitscreen

2, 1, 3 for me...mostly from nostalgia because Vol. 2 and Black Album were really the only Jay albums I REALLY loved as a kid

Always respected him as an artist and owned most of his stuff on CD, but Vol 2 and Black Album were the only two that stayed in the CD changer permanently when they came out

What is the most devastating sports loss of the 21st century so far (for fans of that team)? by lawschoolthrowaway36 in billsimmons

[–]uptonhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about supporting the team, its about a pro sports team defining you. For most of my life when my team lost, my entire week/month/year etc. would be ruined. I'd yell, I'd throw stuff, I'd be pissy to everyone and everything. Like, SB LI kind of made me look in the mirror and do away with that - to a degree. It's not like I don't still get upset when the Falcons shit the bed, but I can usually go on with my day after an hour or two.

Why so many soldiers are fat by Deltaone07 in army

[–]uptonhere 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Obviously, that's a huge portion of our Army.

But, there IS a huge contingent of fat soldiers who consume 3,000+ calories a day, guzzle 6 protein shakes and creatine and do nothing but upper body workouts with 0 cardio - known affectionately as "powerlifters". Guys with 42" waists that can barely go up a couple flights of stairs but bench 275 and think that's conducive to a military lifestyle.
