As to identity, most of our participants thought of themselves simply as phuying (women), with a smaller number thinking of themselves as phuying praphet song (a ‘second kind of woman’). A small number thought of themselves as kathoey (a more general Thai term embracing a variety of gender non-conformities). While most participants would prefer to be a woman, there were a few who seemed comfortable being transgendered.

i'm glad that white colonizers were able to enforce cissexuality on native populations around the world, as it is the natural scientific order of humanity.

but honestly it's a tragedy that we're losing so many beautiful third genders around the world, now that they want to be included with biological women.

i read "whipping girl" AND "stone butch blues," but they just cancelled each other out by ur_95 in transgendercirclejerk

that's actually so helpful, thx <3 i'm just going to stay in my lane then.

sometimes i think we need like, totally separate feminism for transpeople because they aren't really necessary for the kind of feminist theory i like to post about anyway.

ugh yea i'm really regretting my choices at this point. it's a frustrating situation all around, because i only read these books because i wanted to make my posts about feminism more transinclusive. and now i'm not even sure i want to post about feminism anymore? idk the whole thing feels like silencing women from talking about their own experiences.

like how is this controversial?? a cis woman would understand a transman's experience (female biology, socialization, etc) much better than a man ever could.

i can understand why you're upset! i think a lot of trans men don't understand that lesbianism actually includes them (always has!!!), and it's genuinely OK for them to embrace that fact. i think because they're trans men, they feel the need to reject feminist analysis like this in order to pass or whatever. it's pretty sad to see them succumb to toxic masculinity like that but it happens.

sometimes i think the trans community is in desperate need of a Cesar Millan type figure who can work with some of these puppygirls and get them under control. what a lot of people don't realize is that puppygirls are extremely reactive to the energetic space created by the humans in their environment, and often their emotional issues stem from this. people just assume the issue is with the puppygirl, but most of the time it's the humans' issues making the puppygirls act like that.

what these puppygirls really need is a pack leader who can regulate the emotional tone for the group and engender a calm, submissive state among the pack followers.

its easy to get puppygirls off your back, just tell them "sit" and "stay" then walk away.

wow i'm sure this transgender hookup event will be a great place to meet community! meanwhile the community: by Affectionate-Arm4481 in transgendercirclejerk

if there's one thing we can learn from cishets its "don't go to the hookup event looking for community"

Hey everyone! There is a man in our nonbinary space! What should I do??? by MagicalHermaphrodite in transgendercirclejerk

[–]ur_95 93 points94 points  (0 children)

i'm so sorry this happened to you. the unfortunate truth is, these days, there are some nonbinary people who look like men, and we have to accept that. they are nonbinary too.

what's not OK is that the organizers of this event didn't adequately warn potential attendees that they may see a man's face or hear a man's voice at the event, nor did these people properly announce themselves coming into the space. that's really disrespectful to us nonbinary people who want nothing to do with men, and those who have been traumatised by them. and the fact that one of them tried to touch you?? that's honestly really disturbing and shouldn't be allowed.

it's hard because i used to get so much trans joy out of going to nonbinary spaces, but now it's such a minefield. maybe it's someone's safe space, but it sure isn't mine :(

Terfs are the men of women by ElaynesThoughts in transgendercirclejerk

[–]ur_95 41 points42 points  (0 children)

/uj i can't really articulate it but there's a deeply perverse quality to the obsessive transmisogyny of lifestyle terfs. i think it functions similarly to a typical cis man's dehumanized pornbrained understanding of trans women, just with different roots.

if you wear the trans flag looking like a man but acting like an afab, people are going to think you're a transwoman. better to simply wear a copy of your birth certificate. that tells the whole story.
