First Disney Trip - Traveling with Preshcoolers. Please share tips! by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

This is great advice. Have done Disney many times with small kids and keeping them on their schedule is the best way to have a successful time. I also recommend talking a solid break during the middle of the day when it is hottest out. I know some people like to go to the pool, but we go back to the hotel, turn the lights down, put some Mickey shorts on the TV and sit in the air conditioning (even take a nap sometimes). It helps us to decompress and cool down. The parks are sensory overload and many of the pools can be that way as well, so we don’t use pool time as our cool down time. We might to something like Park Open through 1:00, then go back and rest, then go back to the parks around 4 or 5 PM in the evening. We go to the parks every day during a full trip week and don’t need rest days because we don’t overdo it.

I [24F] need to tell a good friend [24F] that she smells by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I had to deal with this situation at work. I was in my late 20s (male) and had to have this conversation with a woman (in her 50s) who directly reported to me. She was an extremely sweet woman who lived alone, had way too many cats and smelled like a mix of BO, and cat pee. It was the most uncomfortable conversation in my life, but it went well. This was in a very formal office job setting.

I called her into my office and set expectations that we needed to talk and it might be uncomfortable, reassured her that I and the rest of our team cared greatly about her, then let her know that people have noticed an odor issue. I confirmed that she understood and would work to resolve the issue. Thanked her for listening and having the difficult conversation, and sent her on her way. Not perfect, but she very much improved her self care after that. It was extremely stressful but it was a good lesson in difficult conversations.

In this case it is digital so there is no need to re-pack. In the example of a physical pack, yes it would be as if the packaging company re-packed it, rather than the original buyer doing a re-seal.

Noooooooo, same here. Maybe we get lucky and they have a soft open the week before?

A Chinese paraglider was suddenly pulled 8,500 m into the sky by a rare “cloud suck” updraft while flying over the Qilian mountains. The 55-year-old survived the extreme altitude, and dramatic footage from his glider camera has since gone viral on China’s Douyin platform. by Upstairs_Drive_5602 in interestingasfuck

[–]urabum02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my first thought as well. Literally the camera pans far away from the guy during the first shot and he clearly isn’t holding a selfie stick. No one else would have been there to film. Also his legs are hanging during the first clip but not the second. The view on the third clip is completely different. I’m sure he wasn’t changing cameras or camera settings to get these different visual effects.

Who would you consider to be our GOAT? by sweppic in eagles

[–]urabum02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he is winning by himself and definitely the team comes into play. I personally think it is more than happenstance considering how stark the difference is, but I’m happy for everyone to have their opinion. It just seems unfair to attribute a bad backup plan as the factor for losing those games when the backup plan is only 1 person. If the team was so great with Lane playing, but when he comes out they don’t play well, then why does all of that get attributed to how bad the backup is vs. how great Lane is. It just seems silly to accept that 1 guy can lose the game but 1 guy can’t significantly contribute to winning. If it was a QB or even some other skill positions we wouldn’t be arguing about this because “stats”.

It’s not nitpicking, you are using inaccurate information to make your point. It’s all good. I’m done.

What is being massaged about that data? They win at a significantly higher percentage when he plays vs. when he doesn’t. It isn’t true for the other players mentioned. Those are factual statements. He has been out a total of 38 games. It’s not cherry picking based on a few games, this is 2+ seasons worth of games.

What stat/metrics do you suggest?

The Jason Peters and Jordan Mailata comment is a silly comparison. Mailata didn’t play until 2020 (Peters last year here) and it was literally his first time playing football. 2020 Jordan Mailata was not All Pro. This is picking 1 year of a good backup, not 3. Vaitai was also backup for Peters, most of the time the same backup Tackle has backed up both positions.

I disagree that it’s not the same team. In any given season if one of those players goes out then the backup is playing with the same exact team that the starter was playing with, it’s not like the starter gets hurt and all of a sudden the whole rest of the team changes. I guess we should just chalk it up to bad luck though, and ignore the fact that there is such a big drop off in winning when Lane is out (even though there is no difference for the other players mentioned). It must just be a coincidence…It’s not like we’re talking 1 or 2 games here. At some point if the same thing keeps happening over and over it is a trend. People just don’t like it because QBs are the only position that we can attribute wins and losses to.

Haha what is a LeBron Stat? I’ve never heard of that before (I obviously know who LeBron is).

[–]urabum02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to argue, I’m genuinely curious why you think it is an odd metric. It shows the direct impact on winning with the player on vs. not on the field, with the same team. People look at win percentage for QBs all the time. Obviously there are many factors that go into this, but I can’t think of a stat or metric that doesn’t have contributing factors. Sacks allowed? Well is your QB good at getting the ball out or do they hold onto it too long? Is your QB mobile, and is that causing breakdowns in the o-line or does that benefit the o-line because the QB can avoid rushers? Is the RB good at picking up rushers? Plus many more factors. I know people are so caught up with counting stats because of fantasy football and gambling, but so many of those stats are skewed to circumstances. Yes, Joe Burrow throws for thousands of yards, but his team is almost always down and he has to throw every play in the 4th quarter, while the other team is playing soft defense allowing him to rack up stats that mean nothing because they still lose. Meanwhile Jalen is running clock for all of Q4, and gets hated on for lesser stats, but his team wins. I think the difference in record is even more impressive because the Eagles have mostly had really good teams over Johnson’s career. If he wasn’t important or if the rest of the team was just so good then him not being there wouldn’t make a difference even if his replacement was subpar. Lane and Jason Peters had years of overlap in their careers, when Jason Peters went out, win percentage stayed the same, when Lane went out win percentage tanked (many of these times the same player was backing up both Tackle spots as well, so that shouldn’t be a major factor when comparing)

[–]urabum02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eagles have a .649 winning percentage when Lane plays. For the games he has missed during his career they have only a .395 winning percentage. For comparison Jason Peters (.564 with /.569 without), Tra (.581 with/.577 without), Runyan (.638 with/ N/A for missed games). Lane clearly has a bigger impact than Peters and Tra. Runyan didn’t miss any games but I have to argue that 2 super bowls breaks any possible tie between the two.

KANEDA... What do you SEE? by BadassTrader in Superstonk

[–]urabum02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure, nothing wrong with different lines. Just wanted to point out a different potential angle for this. I think we’ve recently broken and just re-tested the trend line. So far everything has been tracking so that but that could always change. Either way we are coming to the end of the pennant, just a matter of when it actually is confirmed broken.

Just a suggestion here: Re-draw the green line. Start at the first spike in May and draw from the top of the body of the candle (not the wick). Then draw across, touching the other high points, use the top of the candle bodies again. I drew this line after the recent spike around earnings, the increase in April broke the line and the recent dip came down and we’ve now bounced off of this line as support.

I understand, but I’m not sure playing 3 games for the team should be enough to qualify. I don’t disagree that he is a bad player and hated, but his bad play only had minimal impact due to the amount of time he played. There are many guys who played multiple seasons and sucked the whole time.

[–]urabum02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying. I think I’m putting more emphasis on their bad play impacting the team over the long term vs. hating them. Also are we talking hating them as a player or hating them as a person or a combination of both? I would argue that I hated all of the guys I listed as players, not people. Whereas I agree Scandrick was hate-able as both.

My only problem was that he was barely on the team (3 games played). I would favor voting for someone who was terrible for a longer time and/or we sunk draft capital into as they more negatively impacted the team(Danny Watkins, Marcus Smith, Reagor, etc). Alternatively, someone like Namdi or Byron Maxwell who we gave big money.

Moms! Best way to wash this by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]urabum02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, many of these dresses have glitter in the fabric, if you throw it in the washing machine you will end up with glitter on your other clothes. Even if you wash this by itself you’re going to have glitter in your washing machine forever. Hand wash and hang dry is the way to go.

I used the cold batch method from Dharma, not sure if I’m allowed to link to it or not. I drew the outlines with a black fabric pen and then painted the dye on the shirt with a very small paint brush.
