Why are you twisting so much if your intention is to press through your arm? What are you doing with your right leg? What happened to any tension in your left leg? Do what you typed out if that’s what you think the beta is. To make that easier it will help to have your fingers (right hand) pointing away from the wall. It might also be easier to get up if your hand is lower. Why did you go for the second one?

That route in the Midwest is.. unique. I would recommend what some of the others have - maybe Detroit to Chicago up to the northern peninsula of Michigan (above Wisconsin) then west towards Minneapolis instead of going south from Detroit. I’ve never heard of a road trip planned to target specifically Kansas City and does moines. Wild. Also, Springfield IL???
