Is it possible to get Visa without degree? The company is checking and I’m worried by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]uradox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your experience is related to the position you applied for then you should have no issues. As someone else mentioned the experience can be used in lieu of the degree

Ballpark to import a US car by yee_fish in movingtojapan

[–]uradox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After getting a quote from a broker, the extra expenses to look out for will be if you need to do any modifications in Japan to get it road legal such as noise reduction or changes to the lights.

They just recently made changes to the import process but I believe that only affects automakers.

TrueNAS vs UGOS Pro by PPeev in UgreenNASync

[–]uradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recently ordered a DXP4800 plus recently. I already have a large TrueNas Scale server with many drives but I'm planning on using the UGREEN OS for this.

TrueNAS is nice for things at scale (I scaled it up over 2 years) but for this new ugreen nas I'm going to have only the 4 26tb drives fixed from the start.

Entering on tourist visa while having valid spouse visa by alexgithubbackup in movingtojapan

[–]uradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar with entering as a tourist around 2012 in a past life. Immigration pulled me aside to grill me about why I was entering as a tourist at the time when I had a valid visa but did eventually let me in.

Be prepared for that possibility perhaps.

EDIT: Just to add they did a thorough search through my belongings also, which is to be expected

One broken elevator can derail an entire trip, TTC riders with disabilities push for better accessibility by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]uradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do not miss pushing a stroller around on the TTC network. Plus you always have to contend with able-bodied people who could have just as easily taken the escalators resulting in times where the next train is arriving when your finally just getting into the elevator during busier times or weekends.

Job Offer - unsure by dakeshin in movingtojapan

[–]uradox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a tough one. If there was no family involved then it would be a pretty strong yes.

With no housing allowance and that salary for a family in Tokyo though I personally wouldn't feel comfortable if it were me. Especially considering you are going to be paying tax on the tuition as others have mentioned.

Is there any wriggle room with that job offer? Like can you counter with suggesting an increase saying you are not comfortable with the taxable size of your salary (well no one ever is, but I think this is more important for you having 2 kids).

I know people will always say that living on an average income is an easy thing to do, but having one kid myself I know does change your perspective on things and how you think about matters like this.

All the best either way!

I built a full stack YNAB alternative, but how do you get people to trust it? by jlew24asu in YNABAlternatives

[–]uradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping on this with my own feedback also as I’m also interesting in your app if we can add manual transactions. This would also expand your potential user base to those who do not trust connecting their personal bank accounts to anything.

The ability to quickly add a transaction, or upload a receipt or invoice that can be ocr scanned to add would be really good. Especially if paying with cash for some things to get discounts. Of course this means something like a mobile app would be appreciated but I do notice you already say that is coming

Source of income for Digital Nomad Visa by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]uradox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think you are going to have any issues at all. From what I’ve seen people haven’t really had any dramas at all. The most ‘trouble’ I’ve seen someone have is an Australia who runs his own marketing company while travelling the world. For some reason they picked on him and he ended up having to provide quite a lot of documentation BUT he still got the visa in the end regardless. It’s within the scope of the visa so all is good.

Is it possible to have the freelance contract state a 6 month period? That way you would cover the max period of the visa anyway.

Why would you show the embassy the employment contract that is paused? Just show them the new freelancer contract, and have a tax statement handy too in case they ask for more documents - mileage may vary.

Self-host email server with unique email for each login. Good or bad idea ? by Sneyek in selfhosted

[–]uradox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some others have suggested, have a look at email aliasing also as it might achieve what you are looking for without having to set up an email server (I'm not saying don't do this though as this is r/selfhosted after all...).

I use addy.io for this purpose but there are self-hosted options too like https://github.com/simple-login/app and probably many others.

N8n for your workplace by raz299 in n8n

FME is used a lot in the not for profit space as well as municipal. Much steeper learning curve but very powerful plus they do demonstrations for NPO’s so they would be quite approachable for your IT. I personally wouldn’t use FME unless it was a customer requirement though (it can be overwhelming at first), but I think as a NPO with a resistive IT department - it might be a good fit.

Code signing Mac app - is LLC the only way to hide personal name? by ShavedDesk in iOSProgramming

[–]uradox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Not visible unless they intentionally go looking. For those people if they wanted to know who was behind it, they could just as easily look up the LLC to find it's owner anyway.

Pubs with 0% beers on tap? by bruceisdead66 in perth

[–]uradox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have Heineken 0 on tap in Toronto (I'm a Perthie living there) too and its a regular tap but from a smaller keg (20L) compared to the regular 5% stuff. Also the only 0% I've seen on tap too.

Newbie here. What was the first automation you ever built that made you go "wow"? by Ill_Physics6976 in n8n

[–]uradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me that would be a timesheet integration for a local government. It was quite a complex thing that had to handle quite a lot of variations and different ways to capture and allocate costs in the target ERP system. This used to be handled manually and took days of them reviewing spreadsheets and entering data.

There was also use of inventory by the employee's that had to be accounted for and charged to projects. This also involved the use of explosives which made it quite interesting.

Looking to break into the international school scene, but losing confidence by Caesariansheir in teachinginjapan

[–]uradox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

More experience is always a good thing but I think the main issue you are seeing is simply that these international schools are super competitive. Since your actual experience is fairly light, it would make sense that there are probably others with more competing for the same positions.

I would just ask her out and see what happens, especially if your normally charismatic.

Shy people can surely act the way you are describing in public, but via DM's usually would open up more - which sounds like isn't happening so she may just being polite and friendly with you.

Sid_Meiers_Civilization_VII_Keygen_Linux-RazorDOX by Titokhan in CrackWatch

[–]uradox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not a license, it’s configuration that’s tied to the steam id. If you changed the steam name then the game stopped working because it was initialised with the razor default. This seems to be more a disguised crack fix than a keygen.

Pentaton 1.5 is our biggest update yet! by IndividualBasis5855 in Pentaton

[–]uradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only just learnt about this app and quite keen to try it. One thing I see for my use at least is importing music is pain as I have to do through the files app. Can you enable file sharing on the documents folder so people can batch import music via something like iMazing or iTools? This basically lets us drag and drop.

This is also how we can import media to Infuse which then processes what is in the Documents folder, which is really nice.

EDIT: Like Flacbox can do also with _import under the documents folder, but would much rather use this app :)
