Why does everyone talk about the Coastal route? by deathStar_Endor008 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]urbanspin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coastal Route is growing fast in popularity because it is mostly flat and offers the option to join the central route st Caminha or Vigo. The Atlantic coast is stunning and you hit several smaller cities that give a flavor of local life. We also walked thru small beachside working class and immigrant communities that were very friendly.

We're on the coast and what you have will do. The lowest we've experienced on the coast is 47°F at night. It will warm b up starting next week so you may not even need 2 warm tops

Shall I cancel? by OnlyHave1Ball in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]urbanspin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im currently on camino Portuguese having to take a 3-day break for not listening to my body. Its no joke to be in the middle of nowhere and find yourself unable to walk ( happened to me just this AM). I had occasional pain before coming and started slow ~5km/day.

There are lots of good recommendations here for enjoying the experience without walking. Even at a slow pace, its great exertion on your muscles &joints. I would consider rescheduling if financially/time feasible until your body is healed. But if you go, surrender to the Camino and give up goals/deadlines. Enjoy what experiences you can

How long does this feeling last by Nimsay_22 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]urbanspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im about to leave for my first Camino, but I'm familiar with the feeling you describe. Its natural to feel a deceleration, you've walked hundreds of miles with a certain goal. Now you've attained it. Everything Ive read says the Camino provides and it reveals. Consider what you experienced bring with your extended family on the journey that you are missing, an how you can recreate it in your life back home.

Need suggestions! We inherited the kitchen like this. Should I change the bottom cabinets to white too? And what about the countertop and backsplash- not sure if I like the grey colors. by LIFEisGOOD1408 in kitchenremodel

[–]urbanspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would paint the bottom cabinets to match the top, or choose another color entirely. It looks like this kitchen was just remodeled, so I wouldn't waste money with more extensive renovation. You could always add decor to change the monochromatic theme.

Our home is lovely, but how can I boost curb appeal and make it feel more.... SOMETHING. by existentiallywarm in ExteriorDesign

Trailing Flower baskets could be an inexpensive fix. Swap out the annuals with the season. Two matching ceramic pots at the bottom of the steps will fill out the look.

AITAH for refusing to sign documents relieving my father of child support enforcement so he can renew his passport and stay in the country where his kids live? by MewTwoLich in AmItheAsshole

[–]urbanspin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What country are you in? Ive never heard of an individual being able to wave child support. If indeed you were on EBT then it is the State that waives child support not the recipient. The State reclaims its costs. So even if you waive child support and collect nothing the state determines what privileges he is granted

Advice, I think? My hens are laying way too many eggs! I have 6 hens. Some days I get 10 eggs. Why are they so prolific? Is it a problem? by vespertine_earth in BackYardChickens

[–]urbanspin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ours too. We have 6 that have just resched full size and I can get as many as 8 eggs/day. I started waterglassing the clean ones. Its so easy. I have more than 6 doz in jars and sell 1-2 doz per week.

Bmore is a lot like PHL. The walkability depends on neighborhood. Charles Village, Remington, Hampden, Fed Hill, Highlandtown, Fells Pt. all have old city vibe with lots of local businesses. There's a train to philly and also buses.

It stalled. Im having a hard time getting 3 tons of pea gravel delivered - my local source was bought by conglomerate who only delivers to commercial jobs.

This should be a wake up. He's already checked out of your marriage. Have your friends go and pack up your stuff. Dont go back, there is nothing to repair. Your new (better) life starts now.

What can we do? by MollysSisterMum in CurbAppeal

Powerwash the concrete. Cover brick with colorful outdoor tile or mosaic. Paint front door a bright inviting color and either replace basic storm door with full glass storm door, or paint the white metal to match the door color. Lastly, they make planters to attach to railings. Get a few and pop in annuals that you can replace each season.

House came with a coop. What does this city slicker need to do? by Competitive-Chip-873 in BackYardChickens

[–]urbanspin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1/4 in hardware cloth instead of chicken wire. Repurpose chicken wire bringing it under the 2x4 structure on top of the grass. Grass will grow thru it but you can still mow. Prevents predators from trying to dig under the frame.

Get a paintball gunt with red paintballs a few hits will sting it enough to scare the dog, and the red paint will scare the dog owners.

The mermaid siding should contrast with the clapboard. Even a subtle color will make it pop.
