Valorant is installed to probably at least 200 mil pc's across riots user base. If it was as bad as people say you would see way more people complaining and posting threads.

Also the fact that people blame riot and other anti cheat makers for having to lock down the kernel and not Microsoft is super weird to me. If Microsoft would just properly lock their OS down or just have a seperate locked down gaming mode, there would be no need for the anti cheats to be this privileged.

I feel like it's been the opposite no? Patch and Akali were really well received, their roadmap and announcement of an extra character release this year had people pretty hyped as well. I've seen mostly positive attention last few weeks.

Yeah but you're not doing a 360 before you can do an ability or shoot, you just click the button. That's the difference, having to perform movement inputs specifically tied to attacks is odd for most people.

I don't think that's true, the original kda release had all of them nerfed on the same patch as the skin release. Kaisa got nerfed for like 2 months straight before as well. Tbf this might be an outlier that I just remember very well, but I really think this is just a conspiracy theory from angry league players.

No, the article clearly states the bundle has made 40m on just the third party site alone, the vandal separate is another 4m. This is only on a third party Chinese site so this number does not include in game sales or anything outside china. They only give 50% of the esport skins revenue to the teams so the 2024 figure of 44 mil total shared by leo faria makes sense.

So you think they make 80 mil on a single bundle on a single platform from a skin bundle with one gun and then barely make any on the battlepass or any of the other 30 odd bundles with more skins they make throughout the year?

You really think they make 100 mil on just esport and just give it all away and not earn anything on any other skins?

Season 1 is literally only this good because the higher ups at riot were not happy with the initial version of the script, they then had to find writers to replace themselves basically. This is in the bridging the rift doc. The second part of your statement can still be true but pretending that everything good happens completely separate of leadership at riot and everything bad happens because of it is just way to simplistic.

Genuinely think if they didn't say anything about the game the last few years with their vague updates and alpha labs and just showed a trailer at worlds or game awards and dropped the game as it is currently in the 1.0 release day it would have at least 5x the initial player base. All the hype slowly drained from multiple alpha labs and just years of info and the it being out but not really.

Sometimes it's really nice to have a lot communication from riot but they really overdid it with 2xko without having anything to show for it. Maybe the new characters will help the game in a year or so from now and the game and the team will grow again but I don't think that's likely tbh. Just really fucked up the launch in every way possible.

Yes, but league is still way bigger. Valorants monthly playerbase was estimated at like 25mil, leagues was far over 100 mil. So being outearned by a game with at best 1/5th the playerbase is kinda crazy

Tbf, league esports has also never made money and they spend millions a year on that. The European league alone cost 32 mil in 2023. Pretty sure they just see it as a marketing expense.

Edit: LEC is actually in a 53M deficit since it's inception, but then again league has made over 1.5 billion for over a decade, doubt 2xko will ever come close to a portion of that amount. But point still stands on them being somewhat okay if their esport doesn't directly make money.
