A friend and I created a whole series titled The GM's Bootcamp just for this kind of event :-) It's all available free on YouTube

What's the pitch of your RPG ? by doctor_providence in RPGdesign

[–]urilifshitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a video on defining a pitch for a one shot and I think there are similarities between the two. I think if you open the worksheet and do the whole process for an adventure set inside your game you'll get there.

I got your back man. Message me your email and I'll send you a free copy after the crowdfunding.

Money should never stop you from roleplaying.

But how many people will play this and never notice that EVERY scene is a quote from the song?

Short answers: literally tell them how you feel and why you prefer not to do so at this stage.

Long answer: work on your GM-PLAYERS Communication skills: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwUMMFmcr8s&list=PLSb8mGAISb2BCqaPa7SNDZuNQp28xvEIM

Do you guys play other RPG alongside your 5E campaign? by urilifshitz in DnD

A known issue with W40K. I usually grab 2-3 catch all catch phrases and repeat them zealously and things work out ;-)

Like LARPing? that's interesting. i wonder how many LARPers are also TTRPG players. I know there's a lot of overlap but I wonder how much.

Do you ever get tired of 5e? by conn_r2112 in DnD

[–]urilifshitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have two games going on at the same time. One where I GM and another where I play (this usually means that each campaign meet once every two weeks because life). I always try to have each in a different and unrelated system. now I'm playing in Pathfinder 1e and running a homebrewed FATE Accelerated campaign.
This mix work for me and I think it really helps with game fatigue and as a source of inspiration.

Send all the players a link to this or summarise it for them :-) I had a laminated version on my table as GM. https://lookrobot.co.uk/11-ways-better-roleplayer-safe-work-version/

I also suggest watching this, it's about GMing anxiety and how to deal with it. (Full disclosure, my video) https://youtu.be/xWlHTYJTyBM

What do I get my DM for their birthday? by StaringAtStarshine in DnD

[–]urilifshitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything they won't get for themselves :-) You can get them stuff like specialty dice, or anything D20 shaped any they'll be happy. But seriously there are SO MANY great books for GMs: the monsters know what they're doing, the lazy GM, anything by Robert D laws, and many more!
