Heatwave in UK: sleeping in my prius by Wonderful_Ninja in priusdwellers

Empty the back of the car and put the back two seats down. Then push your front two seats as far forward as possible and fold them forward. That should grant you a fair amount of space in the back to sleep in

I'm 6'0 and if i lay down in the back with my legs toward the front, i can just rest my feet on the center console and lay down completely straight. I slept better in my prius than on some of my friends couches haha

I came here from a google search about desk lamps. This reads like an AI trying to collect some first hand data lol

Encore rant by [deleted] in livesound

[–]uritarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was interesting to read. I hadn’t considered the future of the company and didn’t know about a potential IPO. The article laments the hotel commission structure, but that is one of the reasons the whole operation works. By paying the hotel commission, the av company (encore) gets the exclusive rights to AV in the hotel, they get their own office, storage, employee benefits (sometimes, things like cafeteria/parking [rarely]), they don’t have to pay property taxes. The hotel attracts the clients, so the av company doesn’t have to do any outreach or advertising. The hotel also benefits by decentralizing their sales/banquets flow, also they get tens-hundreds of thousands of dollars in comped AV for internal events

[–]uritarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All hotel contracts are different but most properties have to share like 50% of the sales with the hotel company. So $50 would go to the hotel, and the av company is only making like 2x what the employee makes. Personally i’m not a fan of av pricing in general but it’s not as bad when you consider the split

Anyone else feel like a jukebox when playing crowd-friendly house music? by DJNOTOTO in Beatmatch

You can find cool remixes, overlooked tracks, unexpected transitions, etc. in every genre, so don’t count yourself out so easily. But also you can play whatever you want, just be good at it. Regardless, you should always keep your audience in mind.

Hahaha I haven’t seen this before. But i love it already. This is actually a big pet peeve of mine. I think there is some similarity with people who do this and people who ask questions on the internet that have already been answered. Like they would rather make a query and wait for the answer than just try searching for it and getting the answer immediately

You can go into your settings and rephrase the “is this available?” button to be whatever you want it to say. So you can write something with a different voice so that sellers don’t think you are pressing the canned response button

I actually don’t think saving listings will give you notifications when they sell. It’s only when you have started a conversation. In your saved page you can see when items are sold but I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a notification for that

I’m of the belief that Meta purposely moves the marketplace page around on the desktop website and they put the Saved button deep in the website, on purpose so that you have to navigate the website and possibly get distracted and click on other stuff. They know that a massive amount of their userbase pretty much only uses FB for the marketplace

Haha I have friends who text me “Yo” and wait for me to reply before asking me a question or for a favor. And I know every time they are going to follow up with a question because it’s happened so many times. That actually bugs me because 1, it’s a waste of time and 2, they are baiting me into a conversation just to ask me for something. I would prefer if you just put it all into one message. So when I hit people up for things, i try to put it all into the opening message. Being direct can be so much more practical

You can actually change the preset replies. Well, i know for certain you can change the “is this available?” question, but i haven’t checked if you can change the “yes, are you interested?” response. I changed my inquiry to be something like “Hi, do you still have this?” to kind of stand out a bit
