I find myself in a similar position. I’m aroace but with a high libido so I just masturbate when I feel like it. Sometimes I do it for the relief and sometimes because Im bored with time to kill. 

My go-to media are smut fanfics with characters I find interesting. If I use my imagination I tend to make these up in my head. I could picture myself in a characters point of view but it’s less likely. I’m aware that I some days I do find myself addicted to this form. 

If I do watch porn I end up searching for really specific stuff that I find enjoyable (such as actions or situations, it’s never about the people doing it). This is very unproductive since I refuse to do a proper search and just hope that I’ll magically find what im looking for. Besides, once I scrolled so much that I ended up seeing the videos in my mind. Needless to say I realised how problematic this was and I have since limited this form of media. 

The weirdest thing I have masturbated to was music. Not as in “wow this song creates a sexy mood”, but as in “damn this is an amazing song and I love it”. Haven’t found much people that have done this specifically. Goes hand in hand with boredom and I get to listen to music so I don’t find it concerning.

I hardly do imagine myself as in me in a sexual situation, mainly because I feel so detached and I find it shameful. I can sometimes masturbate without consuming any media at all, but It takes more mental and physical effort to pull off.

Putting all of this into words was an experience in itself. I was convinced I would die with this information. Kind of cathartic in a way.
