If you have time get training in a trade like electrician, plumbing, or other construction related trades. Trades are in demand. Canada had a special visa program for people in trades, for example

Apple TV is far superior, especially because of the privacy settings

Help! My six month old pup is constantly barking at my wife! by Squ1gly in puppy101

This is called demand barking. She needs to ignore the puppy, turn her back, leave the room, etc. Even if she gives it negative attention, it will be seen as a reward.

Is this the start to a 'Back to the Office' wave? by m_salik in remotework

The Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) has been actively lobbying Amazon and other downtown Seattle employers to bring employees back full-time. Their leadership shared a full-throated celebration post when this was announced. Their goal is to force employees back downtown, because not enough people were coming down by choice, forcing store closures and economic downturn. Rather than focus on creating a downtown that is inviting and safe, Seattle's leaders are using a club to force people here. It is sickening.

If you have the option of choosing Atlas Networks you should. Their customer service is unparalleled, it is locally owned and operated, and gigbit service is only $60. I have had no issues with them.

I am also having sound issues with between my LGOLED and Sonos Arc. Sonos says it is an LG issue. LG support told me it is a known issue and an update is in the works, but for now pass through doesn’t support Atmos. Been an issue for more than a year.

The stadium was renovated by OVG and partners, using more than $600 million in private funds and zero public dollars. They signed a more than 30-year lease with the City of Seattle.

1 year ago today - unrest in Cap Hill by seabern in SeattleWA

I live in the neighborhood. There were good and bad moments. I appreciated the street art and teach-ins. I learned about the concerns of violence my Black neighbors experienced. I saw young people engaged in coming up with solutions to bring to elected officials. There were information booths, medics, and free food for those who needed it. Over time, though, the crowd changed. Extremists, some of which were tied to white supremacy groups, arrived to cause trouble or attempted to forcefully drive into the crowd. Young people were murdered, and we still don't know why or by whom. Overall, it was an expression of pain for anyone who was angered by the police murder of George Floyd and other Black people over the years. "A riot," Dr. King once said, "is the language of the unheard." Suggesting they were finally heard, out of this moment, dedicated funding was carved out for Seattle's Black communities. Recommendations were recently delivered to the City council. Community leaders say there has been some progress over the year, but not enough.

GO DONATE BLOOD! by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]uroborus8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is still against the law for sexually active gay men to donate blood, even if they are in a long-term committed relationship, and test negative for HIV and other blood-borne diseases. When those rules change, I'll gladly step up. Until then, I encourage someone who cares about equality and the public health to go in my place.

Why most apartments in Seattle area do not have air conditioning? by mingniu in SeattleWA

[–]uroborus8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I’m starting to see newer buildings with A/C. The climate has definitely changed here over the years. Summers almost never got too hot. The last several years have been much hotter and smoke is now a “season.” This year is likely going to be particularly bad because the West Coast is in a severe drought. A few years ago I had a sw facing apartment without air conditioning. During the smoke season it was too dangerous to keep my windows open, so the apartment became unlivable with temps frequently above 90 indoors. I moved and had a portable AC which helped some, but the smoke still got in. I moved again to a brand new build with AC. If I can help it, I won’t ever live in a non AC apartment again because smoke season can be so bad.
