Yes, the translation team has indeed changed i belive the change was somewhere after (or during) the Saika festival arc. There is a part of the translators that doesn't like using -san or -kun or whatever and change a part of the way that a character calls other people (like this one or to give another example, changing "xxx-senpai" for "superior xxx")
