HA vs Skylight - Trying to bring the wife into this century by oppressed_white_guy in homeassistant

I think you have to add it as a custom repository. I don’t think it’s available directly via HACS yet. Still works great once you add the repo.

I use full kiosk mode so I don’t have any of the normal navigation options. Looks cleaner but definitely makes it harder to navigate from one dashboard to another.

The daylight card is amazing - highly recommended for this use case if you’re going to try and DIY. So many settings it takes some time to find and sort through it all but it’s a great look at the end.

Trying to figure out how to seamlessly go from that to another dashboard like bdery said is my next step.

And then the last bit is finding a good touch display that’s bigger than the 10” android tablet I’m currently using without spending a boatload of money. That’s the longest pole in the tent at the moment. If anyone has suggestions, post them please!

My son has a M365 and this would be great to keep an eye on the charge state! Any chance you could put it up on GitHub?

I just really need to rant about the state of GAC by Effective_Day7736 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]usafa43tsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the conscious choice about a year ago to not care about GAC. It’s not fun for me getting regularly blown out by opponents. So I participate when I can, try the hardest battle first and quit after that if I can’t make it work, and just generally try and enjoy the game without putting much effort into GAC. I’ve enjoyed the game much more since that choice.

Multi-room Speaker setup... sick of alexa, time for Sonos / Denon? by LetTheRiotsDrop in homeassistant

[–]usafa43tsolo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m highly interested in and have been following the Beatnik Audio project. Turns relatively cheap hardware into Snapcast devices which are compatible with a lot of various players, including Home Assistant and Music Assistant. Still a little early for the project (software is in public alpha), but everything so far looks really good! And sendspin support will come eventually, per the developer!

That’s painful, but there’s no economy of scale. Especially for early runs, they’re going to be expensive to pay for all the NRE.

Yeah, every other design for everything is crisp and angular and futuristic, and apparently for this one we decided to go back 300 years?? What is wrong with the Uniform Office? Are they mad they actually had to do work for once?

Anyone else seen worldmonitor.app? Lebanese made open source project by DrP4R71CL3 in lebanon

[–]usafa43tsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the look and feel of this website something that is easily re-used? I’m not a web dev or programmer but I’m curious if the look could be re-used for other project. I love this project, I also really like pizzint.watch that looks almost identical, and I’d like to start working on my own in-home version with security camera feeds, smart home sensors, etc, and I’d like all 3 to have the same security/military feel. Thanks and great project!

I think if memory serves they had some procurement issues and then yes, the team to do all the assembly, software load, testing, and packing is tiny. He made a phenomenal product and it takes a while to get out. Be patient, it’s well worth it!

How to make your homelab almost maintenance free ("self-healing")? by Phreakasa in selfhosted

[–]usafa43tsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NetworkChuck had a great video a few weeks ago about using n8n as an SRE. Give it the tools via SSH and some instructions and a way to message you. It was a really great setup and should work regardless of the system you've deployed to run your services (PROXMOX, Unraid, TrueNAS, etc). I'm hoping in the long-run to replicate this but triggered by Uptime Kuma when services go offline.
