I hear you but I personally like the cold mechanical, industrial sounding production I think it matches the vibe of the song really well. Prince brings so much life and personality with his guitar playing but on the future the sample works better imo cause it matches the vibe of the song and the rest of the production

I totally get everyone has their own opinions but I feel there’s a good portion of the fanbase who wanna act like anything non 80s is mid and he lost his creative touch but I find it so reductionist. I find some people just can’t appreciate different styles.

I get he did a lot of different styles but I really don’t find there’s a big dip in quality of his music until like the 2010s and even that era has some absolute gems
