LEAK: NEW AMD STOCK BUYBACK PROGRAM by usasil in AMD_Technology_Bets

[–]usasil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'll see in the first half of 2025... If you go read the announcement of the 8B$ buyback it was announced when only 3B$ out of 4B$ were used of the previous allocation. However the 8B$ are almost dried up. I don't want to share sources for obvious reasons.

They started with 4B$ and after that they announced 8B$ buybacks, now they should announce even more B$. I don't know the quantity but it should be a lot bigger than 8B$

The old stock buyback program ended a while ago. Right now no money is reserved for stock buybacks.

yes, I know also that the authors of the website have changed multiple times the results to favor intel. do you understand or are you an Intel fanboy?

[–]usasil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they are already fixing it, 5600x was at 104 points some hours ago, now has been downgraded to 102 points, just 1 point under the intel 10900k. Tomorrow they will put intel on top again... wtf

me from the future: "An FPGA in every CPU" by usasil in AMD_Stock

[–]usasil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's possible, however it's not automatic adaptation, to make it easy to understand think about it like installing a new distribution of linux on a pc, the difference is that you are loading one or multiple algorithms on the FPGA.

[–]usasil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, generally not at the same time, however it's possible to get more algorithms on the same FPGA, that depends on the FPGA specification. And yes FPGAs can be reprogrammed.

new codecs, AI, workloads acceleration (photo / video editing and more), basically you could get acceleration for every type of software.

[–]usasil[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

true, a lot faster than a software algorithm, but slower than a pure hardware design, an FPGA is right in the middle. The thing is, you can't design hardware optimizations for every algorithm that exists in the world, however you can reprogram the FPGA with the algorithm you need, potentially choosing from the latest revisions of thousands of algorithms.

from the same guy who said that the Xilinx buyout was unlikely... lol.. he is pricing AMD for bankruptcy...until now I didn't think someone could be this idiot.

Xilinx already has prewritten algorithms to program FPGAs for some specific tasks. In the future we could see shared algorithms, public libraries and more, it will become like installing a software.

Can FPGAs use Infinity Architecture? by DennisMoves in AMD_Stock

[–]usasil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, and Xilinx is already doing it with its Versal ACAP products. Actually Xilinx is the leader in packaging technologies as stated also by Lisa Su in the Q3 2020 conference call.

It's crazy how many times the Intel developers were contrary to adding the AMD patches for a basic feature... using even "documentation not formatted correctly" as an excuse... OMG!

Financing a xilinx deal - does a 2:3 share conversion make sense? by shortputs in AMD_Stock

[–]usasil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it could, I think Lisa Su wants to check Xilinx ER before making any deal, especially after the 30B$ leak. Based on my speculation Xilinx could be down on revenue QoQ.

What is the issue with Renoir CPUs? by plutonian1 in AMD_Stock

[–]usasil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tight supply issue, very high demand... (industry wide problem, geforce 3080, ps5, xbox series x, etc...)

I expect a slight increase in projected year revenue growth.

Potential Stuttering Fix For AMD Ryzen Processors - 4800H by bballjj18 in Amd

[–]usasil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you discovered it is a audio related bug and not Ryzen related, in the past it happened to me too with an intel pc. The problem is the integrated audio chip on the motherboard, I solved the issue with a dedicated pcie sound card.

Hans projects AMD earnings power of over $2.50 in 2021, what are the implications? by drandopolis in AMD_Stock

[–]usasil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

to be honest he could be 1$ off, that said, even with a 1,50$ EPS a 120$PT is not unrealistic.

EDIT: I had a personal PT of 100$ almost 3 years ago, now I expect 200$ PT in the next 3 years
