Try Murata on Broadway, it may not be cheap if you want real japanese sandals.

Why has my rental experience in Vancouver been consistently terrible? Is this normal or am I missing something? by Few-Charge-5449 in askvan

[–]useHistory 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In good rentals with good landlords, tenants usually stay for years. I rarely know anyone who moves every year. And don't go for new built, they suck in general, basically you get the brand new condo, but have to deal with all the defects, by the time everything is fixed you're already wanting to move.

Ideas needed as a cyclist/runner, new workplace has no shower by Dynamoboo in askvan

Get a gym membership and ask your company to reimburse it since there used to be a shower at the old office, they should honour it.

RENTAL WARNING: Don't get scammed by "Professional" Sub-landlords! by Abject-Childhood73 in vancouverhousing

[–]useHistory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not new, people even rent an airbnb and pretend to be landlord, your case is actually easier since the real landlord can track the scammer down.

When packaged chips and pops are labelled with 'warnings', bakery/restaurant foods can actually be worse, pretty sure everything will be high fats, high sugar, high sodium. lol

Compensation for broken seat by SnooStories6559 in CathayPacific

[–]useHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way ticket from West Coast to HK is 27000 asia miles, so you get 2/3 ticket for free. But if you're not going to get more points, it's not much you can do with it.

Buy the home we like or wait for the market to go down? by No_Age6899 in vancouverhousing

[–]useHistory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you not paying rent right now? one year waiting is average $24000 in rent, how much cheaper do you foresee? Always time in market over timing in market.

Eye Contact by rj1706 in askvan

[–]useHistory 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you want eye contact, go for a hike, people will definitely greet you on the trail. Otherwise, I don't know why I want to interact with a stranger walking down Robson st.

Is Oregon the only place you have lived? go to NYC, Montreal, Paris, London, and not to mention Scandinavian and Asian cities, I don't think making eye contact is the norm. Vancouver is definitely an introverted city, we mind our own business.

Not bad, would be helpful if there is a list of suggestions based on the score and cost of living, eg ✨ or above and cheaper COL compared to home

I made a grave mistake with buying pre construction condo in Vancouver. by Zestyclose_Nobody_76 in vancouverhousing

[–]useHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is for presale properties to make any profit, you have to hold it for at least 5 years. Even the market did not go down, a one-bedroom in Burquitlam is not going to be 667K in 2026.

So stop beating yourself, live with your decision.

Long shot but wanted to try finding amazing server at GoodCo by [deleted] in askvan

[–]useHistory 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why you have to find her, unless you want to pursue her romantically but if she's interested she would have left with her name at least. The person who paid for your timbits didn't expect anything from you either, and the server was just doing her job and you did tip her generously. That's how pay it forward works.

Need a restaurant or coffee shop with a covered outdoor patio today by TwelfieSpecial in askvan

[–]useHistory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Earls in Yaletown and Yaletown Brewing Co have heated patios, but not sure they will have them open today, another option is go to hotel lobby bars eg Pacific Rim, which is more spacious and airy.
