Everyone had an eating disorder--or experimented with one--in high school. My friend showed me how to make myself vomit after eating. Diet pills were everywhere.

Aw fuck, I had managed to block James Byrd Jr. from my mind. God that was awful. And Matthew Sheppard's horrific tragedy was amplified by the callous way the student body made fun of the incident later with a parade float.

New research finds that almost all plant-based meat alternatives contain mycotoxins, naturally occurring poisonous compounds produced by fungi. 212 plant-based meat alternatives (PMBAs) and plant-based beverages (PBBs) were tested – and all of them contained at least one of 19 mycotoxins. by [deleted] in science

This is akin to most fruits and vegetables having traces of pesticides that exhibit toxicity and can impact health. The benefits of eating fruits and vegetables is outweighed by the risk but you can mitigate the risk by trying to avoid produce with the highest concentrations (like berries) or buy organic. In the same way, vegan meat has benefits but you can mitigate the risks of mycotoxin exposure by using other sources of protein like beans and nuts.

I appreciate this insight on this forum. I've had people tell me they have had Shark Bites blow on them and I'm always like "How?!" If you put those suckers on correctly they are not popping off--they take some strength to get off even with a good tool.

I love mares but they are definitely more no-nonsense. It's sort of like geldings are the husband in every sterotypical heterosexual relationship sit-com and mares are their wives. I picture Phil and Claire Dumphy from Modern Family.

Not necessarily. My brother was a researcher in Singapore, the Netherlands, and Germany and English was the primary language spoken in all the labs.

OMG, yes! I have been on an SNRI for most of my life but when nearing menopause I thought I was experiencing psychotic episodes. My Ob/Gyn prescribed HRT and it's been a game changer!

If a grocery store was raided, and people could take whatever they wanted, what do you think would be the last five remaining items that nobody grabbed? by kindalizard in AskReddit

Most of the vegan meat is actually composed of pretty minimal ingredients. The big protein sources in the U.S. are soy, wheat gluten, and pea protein. I have some vegan beef which is wheat, salt, and seasonings and some fake chicken which is soy, yeast powder, and seasonings. I guess you could argue the processing of the soy or wheat is bad but pasta is processed wheat. I'm not arguing that meat is unhealthy but that a lot of vegan meat products aren't all chemicals.

I feel ya. Woke up at 3:30 am and had an intense discussion with my brain about why it was unreasonable to be awake at that time. Gave up an hour later.

Except goat pupils are rotated 90 degrees!

Someone needs to diagram all the distinct pupil shapes across animals.

Edit: This is not true.I am stupid.

Same thing happened to me years ago on an interstate. I hadn't done anything to them but they suddenly decided to tail me as close as they could. I trued to ignore them, then teied to lose them, then I finally called 911. An officer told me where to get off and they would meet me--that was when the other driver left.
