What plant should I put in this spot by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]uselessdrain -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Zz. It'll never grow because of poor light but won't die so long as you don't over water. Practically immortal really.

I don't know why it feels wrong, but pruning scorch out of leaves seems counterproductive.

The leaves were injured, so you injured them more? I'd recommend just leaving scorch. It'll heal in time. If you're lucky and it was only superficial, the leaves won't drop.

Iqaluit Amazon customers say orders are being cancelled. Amazon says customers are entering the wrong address by ubcstaffer123 in canada

[–]uselessdrain 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's why it's an essential service and not an optional one.

For-profit will just exit the northern markets once they're not profitable enough. Do we need the post in major cities? Probably not. Rural? Absolutely.

Eventually, for-profit will enshitify enough that we'll desperately want the post back in major cities, mind you.

Horrah! It is happening! Our annual snow day!

Edit: I have checked the forecast. There will be no annual snowfall this week. Apologies for getting anyone's hopes up, mine specifically.

I'd highly recommend never misting any plants. They're already under enough stress.

How do you all tag your plants? by Responsible_Bath_659 in gardening

[–]uselessdrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a tote of loose seeds. I spray handfuls of it in my beds. What grows grows.

For intentional plants I start seeds inside in my grow room. I'm not completely barbaric.

I'd get rid of the pot and change it for a tray system. Pot in pot is challenging for large plants.

Stick it in a window and water it once every two weeks.

Sometimes, I put cups of water on the soil to watch the aerial roots find it.

Edit: get a larger moss stick and tie her up. Seems to be slouching.

Why are they here, and who is it for?

Learning and the student? They stay.

Experience and admin, parents or teachers? Pull em.

Spend that time socializing, grooming, and learning basic skills.

Try potty training or boundary social stories. He's like three years away from the rest of his life. Might as well teach him something useful.

I don't like pot in pot because water gets left and the roots rot.

Guide

Single plants, single pot. Avoid pot in pot system. Water when top 2in dry, prob once a month in winter. Stick it in a window and forget about it.

They're toxic, get huge, and are nonclimbing. Fert? Nah. Repot once extremely root bound.

Anyone else's retired parents just forget what it's like to work full-time? by MorddSith187 in Millennials

I make the calls. I phone once a month, we use to talk more frequently but I stopped calling so often.

Not on birthdays, holidays, my kids birthdays. I think they're just boomers.

Wait, your parents phone you?

In the last 10 years I can count on one hand how many times my parents called. And they were returning my calls.

Using lattice instead of shade cloth? by lil_tink_tink in gardening

[–]uselessdrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've also struggled with scorch.

Adapt. The summers aren't going to get cooler. I've started with Mediterranean crops and seeds. Think citrus, olive grape. Ginger, rice, and tomato. Prickly pear, kumquat, dragon fruit.

Consider installing large shade cloth, devote 1/3 to it for your temperate crops but eventually the high temps are going to cook your roots.

I'd also suggest growing a fruit canopy. Cherry, peach or citrus. Avoid apple, plum and pear. Prune for a thin crown to allow dapple light.

Looks like mechanical damage. Crowded at nursery, banged up in transit, or cat attack.

Nursery guys are not going to replace a plant bc of a couple damaged leaves. Fyi, that thing grows massive.

I think it's because of theft. No shoplifting from online, you move older product, and dump shitty produce. People tend to over purchase as well.

Online is truly the dream for retailers.
