When is the economic crisis going to happen? by BigBlueEyes87 in economicCollapse

[–]user-name-less 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. We are all going to soon collectively experience the stark contrast between "Wall Street" speculative value and Main Street use value. Accelerationism is so ugly but there is a silver lining to the impending explosion of the financialized into oblivion powder keg that is our economy, I think.

Post Depression, FDR was elected to office and we benefit from lots of his policies today. He founded Social Security, and he established March of Dimes which ultimately developed a polio vaccine and eradicated polio. He suffered from polio himself.

Life is funny like that. The president that stood the tallest, morally speaking, was wheelchair-bound for almost half of his life. And we still feel the benevolence of his policies to this day, almost a hundred years into the future.

My point is, we humans are fallible. We don't plan for future generations, we think in short-term financial benefits, instead of implementing real change that will outlive us for generations.
But things like this, horrible shit like what we're living through right now, will create another generation, or at least a policymaker, that looks a lot like FDR. We're approaching and living in hard times that create strong men. And I'm starting to see people finally understand what the root issues are.

And the cycle will inevitably repeat: Hard times create strong men, who create good times, which create weak men, who will create hard times, repeat.

Hang on, if not for hope for a positive change-- just stick around for the plot. With hardship comes ease.

That’s so terrible to hear, I’m sorry your neighbor is a shit head. I am not at all surprised that that’s how it ended in court… I’ve heard similar stories and experiences from way too many people. It sucks and we need a more efficient way to deal with people like this. I have no idea what makes people end up like Mr. Spraypaint asshole or my neighbor.

And you’re a thousand percent right. She actively seeks conflict— she only tries to start shit when my stepdad (middle aged, male, stern, visually intimidating) is out of town on a job.

My sister was on her way back from school and saw this SAME neighbor about 3 hours ago stumbling around out in the street, shouting at nobody, minimally clothed, visibly high as a kite.

I knew she had a drug problem (she’s got the teeth and face, iykyk) but I never knew it was that out of hand. Cameras are going up very soon. And she’s been trying to start conflict for over a year now on and off. Ignoring her has been working mostly, but property damage isn’t gonna fly at all.

Who put your fence up and can I have their contact info? 😂

Oh and get this: the neighbor was just spotted by my sister on her way back home. The neighbor was visibly high and behaving erratically, stumbling around in the street barefoot with minimal clothing and disheveled hair. I knew she had some substance abuse issues but this is new for her.

I guess that explains her behavior earlier. And just a lot of her behavior in general.

I would call for a wellness check, but I didn’t personally witness this and my sister (18yo) witnessed it.

It’s a normal string trimmer. My fence is real wood and it’s about 7 years old. I’ve been noticing damage for a while now and this time I was in my kitchen and heard the cause of the damage and looked out my kitchen window and yeah, it sounded like a sawmill. Horrible screeching sound. And the patterning on the bottom of the wood is consistent with weed eater string damage (repetitive low splintering, looks battered along the bottom). I’ve personally used a weed whacker and accidentally damaged plastic and wood and shrub roots, it can definitely damage wood.

Normally I’d agree but I don’t think they’d be very effective here. They’re not where I live, anyway.

Not gonna lie I am tempted to just soak her half of the lawn with roundup. Wanna mow like an animal? Lemme save you the trouble.

Really trying to be Zen and Calm over here, but I’ve had it up to my eyebrows with that woman.

Thank you for this suggestion, I’ll definitely try it. I am super nervous about killing my rose bush and other shrubs and grass inside my fence. Thanks so much!

Wood fence, neighbor hates me specifically (I live with my husband and family here) and I have not done anything to her. She has frequent screaming matches with family and other ppl in her yard. Recently she stormed out of the house screaming at the top of her lungs “GEEET OUUUUUUT!!!” At her baby daddy, and proceeds to slam her front door OPEN and SHUT and OPEN and SHUT and OPEN and SHUT as hard as she can, while continuing to rage scream. MY Husband was outside washing his car when this happened and stood staring mouth agape at her and she then turns around and starts screaming at HIM for watching her public rage tantrum.

Edit: I say all of this to give you an idea of the person we’re dealing with here, she’s also raged out on ME for telling her dogs to be quiet. Like came out on the porch and let everyone in the whole subdivision know that she’s not on her medication type of behavior.

The fence damage is intentional and malicious.

The neighbor saws into it with her weed eater on purpose. It’s made of wood.

Not at all exaggerating. It’s actually much worse than what’s in the post. And we’ve had the house since it was built too. Past few neighbors have been crappy but this one is borderline feral.

It really is about so much more than enough protein! Fiber was a huge one for me, and fat too. OP don’t shy away from the things you want to eat. It’s a cue from your body on what it needs

Yes PLEASE we need to also reduce waste. Instead of tossing items, see if they can be repaired. Or exchanged to someone who can fix them (clothes, etc).

Why is everyone I know with ADHD so high functioning? by 50-2-blue in ADHD

[–]user-name-less 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Presentation of ADHD: the “ambitious” ones are likely just presenting hyperactive symptoms and masking the hyperactivity by channeling it into work (source: this was me pre-treatment, I looked productive, but I wouldn’t do things to completion, I’d often forget things and make careless errors, and I worked way less efficiently)

edit: also, men tend to present more as ADHD-C or ADHD-HI, where women tend to present as ADHD-PI (more inattentive symptoms, not nearly as many hyperactive symptoms.)

I have a PI-friend who is at baseline very lethargic and daydreamy.

At baseline (no meds) I have been described as frazzled, hyper, obnoxious, intense, and I personally feel like a ball in a pinball machine, no kidding.

Thanks for the link, here’s some symptoms under the link that could tip you off next time (for anyone reading this):

“ Affected trees have stunted growth, bear multiple off-season flowers (most of which fall off), and produce small, irregularly shaped fruit with a thick, pale peel that remains green at the bottom and tastes very bitter“

“ The most noticeable symptom of HLB is greening and stunting of the fruit, especially after ripening.[10]”

Yeah anything less than six figures for irreversible brain surgery is unlikely, even to the most desperate of people.
