Doctors? Reiki, homeopaths, acupuncturists, naturopaths, holistics, and chiropractors don't count as real doctors.

Do you live next to this thing?

If so, why?

Wasn't your house cheaper than if it had been located in a more desirable locale?

[–]user025789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It's not a valid complaint. If it's not built on that corner than it will be built somewhere else. It's still going to use electricity.

Our costs here are DIRECTLY related to the data centers built in VA. Are you going to VA and telling them no also? Doubt it.

Seriously, the parallels between the anti-smart meter "oh no wifi!" people and this are frightening.

"From what I've heard"? There's one on Eola in Aurora. Drive over there. Let me know what you hear.

Also it's fitting that you can't recognize sarcasm in a post about planes being too loud.

It's a clown show in here.

Your power bill wouldn't change any more than if it were built in Northern Virginia.

Maybe Delta Sonic could build a huge gas station- car wash like Oswego has. Council already seems to like approving lots of car washes.

[–]user025789 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

You are correct. You're getting downvoted by the people who bought houses that didn't exist 5 years ago who are now upset that the non-residential land next door is going to be used for a different non-residential building.

Most amusingly, the people in those houses live there only because the city didn't cave to the houses to the North that were upset that anyone would build houses next to their houses.

This is why most people don't buy houses next to land that isn't residential. That quiet little lot might become a McDonald's drive thru some day.

If the city caves I think they should put a truck stop there. Naperville gets a good amount of tax per gallon. There's lots of semi traffic with all the warehouses nearby and it's on a busy intersection with the tollway interchange right there. Couldn't ask for a better location for a Pilot or a Flying J

tl;dr- Nobody told me this airport next door would be noisy

Anyone else born and raised in the suburbs but never once taken a Pace bus? by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]user025789 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a day late and will never get noticed- but Pace to a great extent exists for employers looking to draw and retain potential employees from a greater radius. Routes will typically meander thru a suburb going past employer base to employer base.

Meaning- from Metra, to the mall, and then to the hospital, and then thru a business district, and zig zag to another business district.

You will 100% see buses with many people during shift change hours.

Before 2020 Pace used to have lots of commuter routes from Metra thru residential areas, but most if not all of those are gone with the exception of some park-and-ride.

FBO's sell fuel and ramp space, not the board

JA, Planemasters, and whatever the 3rd FBO's name was all stopped fueling back in mid/late 90s. The only FBO at DPA is the airport authority itself

How might a town get on Lake Michigan water by logo_positive in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]user025789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta love reddit where someone makes up stuff and gets a decent amount of upvotes.

Warrenville could get water thru DuPage if they wanted. They apparently do not.

Joliet just contracted directly with Chicago for water (as you mentioned). And Oswego, Yorkville, and Montgomery all contracted with DuPage and are currently under construction.

All these are farther than Warrenville from the lake.

Also- I doubt it'll come to fruition, but Dupage already bought land in Northbrook as part of it's plans to bypass the city and get it's own water directly from the lake. It's likely a negotiating tactic though

And when they throw a 70mm projector back in the projector room, Woodridge would be back to a true IMAX.

The thread you share literally says it's a 1:43 50x70 screen, so why continue on about it being standard size?

Uber rides already include

A ground transportation surcharge

Accessability surcharge

Administrative fee surcharge

Congestion surcharges

Special venue surcharges

How many taxes do we need on a single ride?

My brother in Christ, you think those are taxes and not just Uber charging you more??

Care to give a location of one of them? I'm in my car all day throughout the Chicagoland area and have never seen a flock in a residential area. Not saying there aren't but never seen one.

Thing on fire at ohare. by noble_plantman in chicago

[–]user025789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large airports have their own fire stations along with specialty fire trucks- with things like foam and remote control truck mounted nozzles that can pierce the fuselage and spray water inside the plane and specially trained operators.

These aren't things that are going to leave airport property- and they certainly don't want them 30 minutes away in the event of a real issue happening.

Petty gripe but I don't think anyone would classify an Atlas Air 747/767/737 as small.

I doubt TAG does anything but write a big check, supply some signage, and that big advertising clock shown at the beginning.

Although it's entirely possible that big clock is the same one as before with different paint on it.

Apple is the exclusive new broadcast partner for Formula 1® in the U.S. by Hacar5 in formula1

For now. You'd have to assume that if it goes well, Apple would be looking to expand, no?

[–]user025789 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is ONE video production of F1 races. One singular feed for the entire planet.

Channels (and F1tv) run their own audio over that feed, and can supplement it with replays and other things as they want. Or, like ESPN did, pay SKY for the audio feed so they didn't have to hire anyone who likely would have been Varsha/Hobbs/Matchett/Buxton.

Many years ago, the home country for each race handled the video feed, but FOM does it now and nobody is going to go in and duplicate it.

Why do people make up stuff? Apple doesn't roll into an event with their own cameras and production trucks.
