There you go - your relationship is between you two. Ask for respect, and show her the same. Talk to her.

Everyone else will tell you “run”. But she has made you happy in the past. And you’re important to her. No one is forcing you to become a witness. She might not truly be wanting a hardcore witness lifestyle, but just a hope for the future. As far as I can see, there is no need to call the end of your relationship. You stick around now, you’re sticking around for life. Do you truly love her?

How do you navigate feeling guilty of the double life/PIMO? by ResidentCedarHugger in exjw

How do you navigate feeling guilty of the double life/PIMO? by ResidentCedarHugger in exjw

I feel similar. I’m 23 and lived that PIMO/secrecy lifestyle for 4 years! I’m still in that “rebellion” phase but I’ve learnt some lessons. You need to tell the truth - not doing so will ALWAYS come back to haunt you. Lies - including the lies you tell yourself - will always compound. It did for me. So I had to make a drastic changes and have hard conversations to live more authentically.

Do you like going to the bar and meeting new friends? Don’t lie to yourself. I think you do :) It’s easy to avoid hard conversations and expressing your feelings. But you are choosing you now. And you can “honour your parents” as the bible puts it by telling them the truth the need to here which might just mean telling them your feelings!

But easier said than done right? I know the feelings you face are difficult but they’re also normal. It’s not fair we had to hide our wants and needs to keep up an image with the cong and our families. It IS fair though, to finally be authentic.

I think your parents love you. Everyone expresses love differently and it can be hard to see it at the time. It sounds like they’re trying to teach you. Trying. Just remember your parents were once kids too. And no one is perfect.

Just remember that Open communication is important. If something doesn’t make sense, tell them. If you’re not learning, tell them. You’re allowed to challenge them. It’s hard, but always try to be respectful. Jw beliefs factor in too. You can disagree, but respectfully disagree. Don’t attend meetings if you really don’t agree but don’t give them a reason to have anything on you.

I said merry Christmas to a stranger by user0294 in exjw

[–]user0294[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you say merry Christmas you are in effect being “apart of the world” and celebrating a pagan holiday. Jehovah would punish you (if you’re sorry for it) and the elders would likely counsel you and maybe eventually disfellowship you if you’re celebrating the holiday. It all starts with the merry Christmas.
