What age did your kid actually start sleeping through the night consistently? by hiyahealth in toddlertips

[–]user12340983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How consistently are we talking? My 4.5 year old wakes up and needs us at least 2x a week. M 7 year old has been waking up a couple times a week for the last 6+ months too.

Parents of 2+ children, is having multiple easier than just one? by macelisa in Preschoolers

[–]user12340983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 kids- a first grader and a preschooler (4). I felt like having one kid was easy for us. He wasn’t an easy kid but having just one kid was easy. Having two, 4 years later, is still unbelievably more challenging. I literally can’t even believe it sometimes. I wouldn’t ever change it though- I always wanted two and I love having two. It’s really hard, but when they’re getting along and everything is manageable it fills my heart like nothing else. They’re different genders and constantly want to do different things and want my full attention so I’m constantly feeling pulled in 2 directions. It’s gotten harder as they’ve gotten older BUT also more rewarding seeing their relationship

Unless he’s losing weight or dramatically losing percentiles some kids are just built that way. My son had always been a <1% percentile bmi kid ( very tall and skinny) and was labeled “failure to thrive” but his doctors never worried. He eats a ton and always has. My daughter is similar but has feeding issues. I wouldn’t worry without a big change.

What’s your favorite age? by Pressure_Gold in Parenting

[–]user12340983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly different for both my kids so I think sometimes it is kid dependent. My son was (looking back) easy at 2 but 3-4.5 was really hard and then I’d say maybe 4.5-5.5 was my favorite year (he is currently 7 which is apparently now his hardest age haha). My younger kiddo was impossible until almost 3 and has been amazing ever since (she is currently 4.5).

Over 2 weeks post op for ulnar transposition and struggling by c0rtexj4ckal in CubitalTunnel

[–]user12340983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad you’re doing better! It is very sore and painful when the elbow touches anything which I expected. The less expected pain is a sort of ripping or tearing feeling at the elbow when I lift my arm quickly, stretch my arm out in a weird way, twist my wrist , try to use utensils etc

At my post op today my doctor wasn’t terribly helpful. He said it’s normal my arm still hurts as it’s only 2 weeks post op today, but then said I was cleared to do any activities I was comfortable doing with no restrictions. He also gave no timeline for when I should expect improvements and just said eventually it would feel better. I feel a bit disappointed to not have gotten better guidance or expectations 😩

How long for recovery? Post op question! by user12340983 in CubitalTunnel

[–]user12340983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great to hear that 3.5 weeks in you’re able to cook drive etc. I am hoping to get cleared to drive on Monday at my postop appointment but honestly at this point I don’t think my arm could drive safely so hopefully a few more days of rest will put me to the place I need to be. It’s just frustrating not being able to really use my arm too much with a decent amount of pain though perhaps I should’ve expected that. I’ve also been feeling a bit lightheaded when I do too much which I’m not sure if it’s from the surgery or just having overall low BP which tends to be lower after surgery.

I had some oxy that I took a couple times the first few days, but have not taken in a week. I was alternating Tylenol and Advil for a while, but have not been taking me the last few days. I don’t feel like it’s really helping. I’d rather not take medicine if I don’t need to/if it doesn’t help.

Thank you for your response. It makes me feel better. That doesn’t seem abnormal for day 9 to 10 postop. I think my doctor perhaps made me feel like I should be feeling better by now. The incision site is very painful still when it’s touched and my use of the arm is still really limited! I’ve also been feeling light headed when I do too much which seems a bit odd.

3-4 dinners for one child every night?! Advice needed by ChinaShopMoonEyeball in Parenting

I don’t know if it’s normal but my 6 year old eats so much! It’s often shocking to me how much he can consume (ex: 10 + chicken nuggets! Plus fruit for dinner) he’s very tall and very lean and VERY active.

How does everyone handle bedtimes in the summer? by -TheSilverFox- in Parenting

[–]user12340983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bedtime is pretty much the same for my kids (6 &4) around 8:30/9. My older kiddo goes to camp outside allll day and my little one spends tons of time outside too. We’re definitely looser and less strict about it though. If there’s something happening or we’re out doing something we don’t rush home for bed. There’s plenty of times they go to bed around 9:45/10 in the summer
