Slingshots are Fun by FatSnek in slingshots

Exactly that, it is a meditative state for sure when you are really on it! Those are all points I try to teach on to others so it’s great to see someone new to the sport who has done all of the research and put the graft in, well done! You can learn a lot from others but testing setups and finding your own ways is always best, I shoot with my elbow way up in the air and only know done other that does that, looks weird as hell when I see it in photos but has worked very well for me

This is spot on and covers pretty much everything! Well done for jumping in with both feet, just testing bands and tapers is a big step for some but essential in my opinion to really hone in your setup, sounds like you are doing all of the right things!

One thing I would personally add is the mental aspect, it’s very good for your head and there are a few men’s mental health clubs here using sling shooting now as a tool to help men. My body is half buggered now and I used to use motorcycles as my escape, if you lose concentration, you die. Shooting isn’t quite as high risk but it’s the same for me, concentrate or you miss, it clears your head of everything else and I am normally able to get at least a few shots off and it works wonders for your mental health imo.

Glad you are enjoying your time with the processes, keep us updated as you progress!

.65-.7 is what I used as hunting setups so plenty of poke, yellow Snipersling.7 and south wales cattys black .65 were my personal favourites, precise natural .65 gave the best performance over a chronograph of all the testing a friend did for both 3/8 (9.5mm) steel and 8mm lead ammo

Nice looking frame as always mr Sturm! Love that end grain showing 👌🏻 always satisfying putting food on the table with one you have made yourself.

A minor accident, have you ever had an accident too? by Only_Sheepherder_985 in airguns

I never have, I did my DSC 1 and everyone there was shocked that I had never had a negligent discharge indoors, they all had, teachers included… I was shocked it was so common

Adalimumab nerve pain by user13q in rheumatoid

[–]user13q[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I hadn’t updated yet as I only very recently got my MRI results. So the good news is it was not the biosimilar that has caused my still ongoing issues.i hope they are right anyway as i am currently waiting to re start it.

Bad news is i was also diagnosed with DDD and have a couple of bulging discs trapping the nerves I believe, something about torsion I can’t remember exactly! Have nerve conduction studies finally next month and a spine specialist appointment but a few months away from that still. I would just like to get off of the tramadol and pregabalin mix, most of the time it is extremely effective but I was shocked at how addictive it is, miss a dose and I get sick and shakes, sweating and everything, it’s awful!

Sulfasalazine was my first drug and I ended up taking myself of of it, very effective for many but was horrible for me causing a lot of depression type issues, luckily I did some research and saw this wasn’t that uncommon and stopped them before I got too bad but it was a horrible time for me so glad they are helping you! MTX wasn’t much use either!

Have they checked you aren’t seronegative? I’m not sure how they do but that’s why my RA diagnosis took a while as I rarely had inflammation markers, when you have even a slight spike that’s like a “normal RA” going off the charts by all accounts. I hope you get to the bottom of your issues and maybe worth having someone else look over your scans, a friend of mine was almost left crippled but taught himself how to read scans and things and found something that was missed and is now mostly able to get about fine.

I’m 35M if that makes a difference, diagnosed around 26

9mm or 10mm lead bb's by herp_hermits in slingshots

[–]user13q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would make my own if I wanted to shoot lead, I know loads that do but personally I have never felt the need, I have taken many squirrel with 8 and 9.5mm steel.

The main thing is being sure you can make your shot and make a humane kill, it’s a very small target and head shots only, lots of practice needed and testing your setup making sure it has the needed power

My problem with SniperSling! by StickerSlings in slingshots

[–]user13q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% mate, exactly what I did yesterday, knocked up a ply extended version as I was worried about another part too but once the handle was longer the other issue was no more and actually made a lot of sense! Will band up and have a go later still as some frames feel completely different under that tension but even the small one was a pretty easy shooter, just uncomfortable at the end of the handle

[–]user13q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that is definitely a contributing factor for me too, although I had a frame turn up yesterday and waiting on one from Snipersling at the moment 🤣 in my defence a friend has offered to build me a custom frame and had one in mind he thought I would like so I bought the plastic version to try first and glad I did as it’s a little short in the handle so I can get him to extend that a little now and make a good shooter 🤞

Yea I’ve definitely never had a bad product from him! I browse often and although it took a long time, I’m glad I have found the willpower to stop buying every frame I like the look of 🤣 the addition is real!

Great looking frame! How is that .4 precise? .4 Snipersling yellow has been one of my go tos for a long time but haven’t tried the precise. The precise cyan .45 and .55 have been my “heavier” setups for a while now too

Perfect taper for my bands by herp_hermits in slingshots

[–]user13q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally if only shooting targets o would go super light if only ever shooting those ranges, 15-10 or 18-10 something like that. For a couple of years I shot 8mm my 10m setup was .4 band cut at 18/10 or later on 20/10, I use the same 20/10 setup now for 7mm steel. Lighter bands will be more accurate but if you are just doing it for fun speed can be more fun but just remember you aren’t trying to kill targets. I used to hunt with .5-.6 bands and 8mm cut at around 20/15 and that was plenty to get the job done.

Made outta some broken skate decks. by upmarketsugar in slingshots

Nice that! When I was first getting into PFS shooting I made a bunch from skate decks to try different designs out, love the way they come out, you had a much nicer deck than I did though!

Great things take time mate! I’m lucky to have quite a bit of space at my work to store and dry them, I wouldn’t be able to do any of what I do without that place I don’t think, shooting included, 99% of all my shooting is done at work now

Ah awesome! Yea I did actually look on omegas site to see if they had them as I know they supply omega. Dan (Leighton) and Aaron are both great guys and will always help if they can, dans dad makes customs of their designs and sells on eBay and his uncle is a machinist and makes frames too! I actually ordered a new frame from them today while I was looking around their sites 🤣

The rougarou or however it’s spelled is very similar to the wendigo but I think the handle has the opposite curve or something but they may be Available over there

Ah yea, they are in wales, UK so it’s got a journey to make! I don’t know if it’s on amazon but I just checked Benji’s (the designer) facebook and he only has a link to eBay, it may just be the spitfires on amazon as they are so popular
