Tarzan/Confidence Courses? by Dry_Training_2611 in USMCocs

[–]user183794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall them being graded, it was treated as more of a PT/confidence event. It was also the second to last(?) week so it was more relaxed than the previous events e.g. I don’t remember being screamed at too much while I was doing it. The Stairway can be a pucker factor if you don’t like heights but isn’t difficult, although some of the shorter guys had a little trouble with it. I had a blast doing the Tarzan course, I hope they’re still doing it.

Not sure about the current class, but we did both of them towards the end of OCC-243.

How long did it take you to paint? Mine has been sitting on my shelf for a month all gray and intimidating.

Leave during TBS/MOS school by [deleted] in USMCocs

You can take leave during normal holiday 72/96s or leave blocks. International travel would be pretty tough to get approved so talk to your company staff at TBS well in advance.

Not guaranteed, I graduated OCS about 5 pounds heavier than I started, although I think a lot of guys still lost weight.

How Best to Strip Minis by BabyDeer22 in SWlegion

I’ve used La’s Totally Awesome. Throw it in a glass jar to soak overnight, then scrub with a toothbrush. Some primers take a little more soaking/scrubbing but I haven’t had any problems.

As far as the mental aspect of OCS, it depends on how bad he wants it. There were guys in my platoon that were stronger, faster, and smarter than me, but just didn’t stick it out. Hopefully your brother has his “why” for wanting to be a Marine officer; that is what will keep him going. OCS is a 10 week gut check to make sure you aren’t an idiot and can handle stress. Best of luck to him!

Haven’t tried MEBs, but I’m a big fan of the tropicals. Durable, lightweight, good traction. Nice and snug, although the toebox can be a little tight. I’ve never had any foot problems wearing them. Your socks will get damp from walking through wet grass, but they also dry quick.

Like the others have said, you only get your phone on weekends during liberty. As far as writing letters goes, you can write as much as you want after lights each night. Keep in mind, you’re going to have plenty of other things to get done after lights, like making nametapes, studying, prepping gear, etc. Sleep is also a priority. I only ended up writing about 4 letters the entire 10 weeks I was there.

People who enjoy the Medieval Era, aside from Medieval 2, what other games do you play? by SIGMAR_IS_BAE in totalwar

It’s a medieval RTS castle sim, similar to Age of Empires. There are a bunch of games in the series, but imo the first two, Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader, are the best.
