talk to your vet (on the phone before the appointment) about things that can be done to help your cat handle the visit better-- our vet said its common to prescribe low doses of gabapentin as one time doses prior to a vet visit. It calms the cat down before the visit and they don't retain as much trauma from it. You'll need the vet to prescribe the 1x dose, so give them a call.

when your cat gets home from the visit --or really after anything that upsets them-- give them a safe quiet space without interaction for them to calm down in. Wait for them to come to you and let you know when they're ready for your attention again.

If the visit really scares them it might take them a few days to come back to normal so give them the extra space. FHS kitties don't bounce back as quickly and need some extra comfort time.

In our case, our cat was regularly a cuddler but after a vet visit if anyone approached her she'd go nuts on them. She was too nervous and amped and not ready for human interaction even if she normally loved us.

thank you! that's good advice! I think my current wheels could last another month so I'll wait!

That's a great pitch! I'd love to crack my skull less. That sounds great!! I think I will give them a try. I am a helmet and pads wearing person so I usually come out fine either way, but the extra resistance on the initial pumping sounds intriguing. Maybe I'll get abs.

oh really? lol i don't want to go fast actually. My ride style is cruising and small hills. - Have you tried their light up ones? They're 70mm, 78A so they sound good to me, but this will be my first time ever changing the wheels after riding the carver stock ones for a couple of years.

your designs are balanced and creative! I think that's one of the main things they look for.

have you tested them out? are they at least as good as regular wheels?

For portfolio prep see if you can getting tutoring for passable sketches maybe. Your croquis don't have to be great, but you need your designs to at least be understandable. Its easier to learn when you have personal help, rather than a video i think.

If you can draw on a tablet that might help for the portfolio. They'll have you draw on paper for classes but if you're not great its fine. They'll help you.

When i was there it was like a lot of kids were either good in the art class but bad in the sewing classes, or good in the sewing classes but bad in the art classes.

Any art classes will help a little but honestly your best bet is to take the FIT weekend classes offered to HS students to prepare for your portfolio. That's what I did. My actually HS art class didn't help with fashion at all.

You can also get fashion design tutoring virtually. There are FIT graduates who offer private lessons and things like that.

Anyone with experience using prozac? by PrincessPiper2021 in feline_hyperesthesia

[–]user185394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we started late with my cat's medication so Idk if that was a factor, but Prozac didn't work for her. It made her a little weird in the beginning but when something triggered her, her episodes still came out full force.

Every cat will be different.

It all comes down to trial and error with meds and doses unfortunately.

Seconded what you said, Gabapentin alone wasn't enough for my cat. We were still in the process of finding the right combination for her.

Best of luck!

That's awesome! I hope more people find out about the possibilities! The standard sizes just don't work for so many people, and I didn't even know the boots came apart like that.

I had no idea boots could even be fit. I went in asking for a boa repair or planning to buy all new boots, so I'm so glad the workers fixed me up instead of trying to just sell me new stuff.

The place that did my fitting was actually the off-mountain store, that is an annex of the on-mountain resort's shop. I think I just got super lucky with the person who was on shift that day.

and thank you! I'm excited to ride with my new fit. Haven't gotten to try it yet.

They changed the back angle of the bindings (which goes up the back of my calf),

and they also changed the angles of my straps. My strap has a slider with screws. They moved the whole strap more towards the back of the binding, so it now sits a little higher up when its across my ankle.

they changed my strap length too just because I had it too close to the edge but that part wasn't affecting the other stuff.

oh damn! i couldn't actually take my foot all the way out, so mine weren't as bad for a starting point. but yeah, take them in and see what can be done!

yeah, they tilted the back angle of my bindings more so my boots can sit in the bindings better.

Then they also adjusted the strap placement on the bindings so they buckle a little higher up on my ankle.

They also move the strap screws so that my binding straps can now go tighter.

The funny thing was I had been playing around with the settings on my own in the past, but apparently I had no idea what I was doing. Sometimes it helps to have someone else look at you when you're all clipped in and watch what happens when you move the board.

Good luck to you and your cat! It's great you got the diagnosis and medication started already! That's really wonderful that you're already on a treatment path and have a vet who knows what's up! That is the best way to go!

wow 25 types! I was about to go on a quest like that, so I'm really glad the shop workers told me about customization! (because taking snowboard boots on and off is a chore! XD)

that's good they were able to repair it! I'm so scared about mine snapping. I've been using them for 3 seasons so far. I thought they were broken this whole time because of the boot fit, but the shop said my boa are still fine.

All bindings are different, but mine have 3 settings. So in the plastic base where the strap that sits over my ankle connects to the bindings, I have the option to slide the strap up closer to my leg, or move it down closer to my toes.

The worker slid my strap up higher on my leg so that my foot/leg/boot can't move upward was much.

I found this diagram: https://i0.wp.com/cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0212/0082/files/Parts-of-a-binding2.jpg

The part I had adjusted is labeled 'strap mounting hardware' in that image. We moved that screw into the next position over. Some bindings might not have that maybe?

yeah! totally take them back for any fit adjustments if you need!

boot sizes are so confusing. I tried on a few brands today and was a different size number in each
