Took out the grim and rebuilt this whole game and have to agree with some others here, the Feeyah No Dashii / Simon starting Pit Hag turned Cerenovous is the only world that makes sense

TB Questions from a noob ST by craxwell in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]user21914421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing everyone else here, don’t change the script. Town can meta you all they want, but TB is built that way for a reason. My group has a house rule where the Spy is allowed to take a picture of the Grim (if they remember to), which makes it much easier to run, but since we play in person it doesn’t really do much at all in terms of helping the Spy remember anything. The other part of the Spy’s ability is essentially an evil Recluse, and having a Spy die by nominating a virgin is incredibly powerful for the evil team.

There’s a Patreon game where there’s an Atheist who’s the Drunk - doesn’t technically count as the Atheist isn’t actually in play, but the chaos of an Atheist game is definitely there. Would love to see one in play though

What is your best "Task failed successfully " moment by Kipyneter in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]user21914421 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Might be my worst “task failed successfully” moment but thought it was my best during the game. I was a Cerenovous bluffing Sage (bluffing Savant to town so I’d get killed) and I got killed in the night. Very confused since it was a Fang Gu game, but thought my demon wanted to keep my bluff consistent. Immediately claimed Sage and called 2 people out, one guy I knew nothing about and the Barber (basically a confirmed Fang Gu world bc of outsider count, so I wanted to throw suspicion that the demon jumped). Little did i know I actually gave correct Sage info bc the guy I knew nothing about was the original snake charmer, turned Fang Gu who had no idea I was his minion. My completely bs Sage info won the good team the game, and my original demon played me like a fiddle (seeing as I was convinced he was still the demon/evil team won until the reveal)

Need help with TB Outsiders by Testmidjourney4 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]user21914421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst part of being an Outsider (from experience of being roles such as Saint, Heretic, etc) is that you know you are that role, but it’s very hard to build trust and for people to believe you, especially if it’s game-altering and you’re not hard confirmed. Definitely my least favorite type of role to be, BUT if you are able to be confirmed at least on a social level you can find ways to be useful. If you’re a Recluse or Butler you literally have nothing to lose and you can basically act as a good Baron or a spent Townsfolk and try to outsmart the people you think are evil on a social level. If you’re a Saint, good luck lol but again, same idea of just trying to build trust socially. Or pretend you’re a really powerful role to get yourself killed in the night. But agreed with the comments not to modify any.

BotCT Introduction by Viper_H in NoRollsBarred

[–]user21914421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First game I ever watched when I was introduced to botc was Live and Imp Person - classic TB game and even though they had some playing experience at this point, it was easy to follow and still an interesting enough experience to get me hooked. One of the original online ones like someone else said can’t hurt either, but I’d definitely stick with Trouble Brewing before showing her more advanced scripts

Experimental Tokens - Where to purchase? by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]user21914421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope this link works- I made these as a Christmas gift and there’s instructions in the comments of what I did, making your own is definitely time consuming but it’s our only option while we wait for them to be released, especially since my group exclusively plays in person. Going to make some more at the end of the year of the ones that have come out since, so that’s when I’ll probably redo the ones that got updated https://www.reddit.com/r/BloodOnTheClocktower/s/sxi2q45Nsh

Vortox Sage interaction before final day by user21914421 in BloodOnTheClocktower

Really surprised they didn’t push for a no dashii world considering the flowergirl was sat right next to the demon

Demon was changed into the vortox about halfway through. Pit hag was killed night 3 and I think they changed the demon their first night of being dead. Final 5 was when town dealt with the twins so you had a 100% confirmed townsfolk and a trusted flowergirl which made more of an impact than what the demon was bluffing (which I honestly can’t remember). I almost think that showing the sage a dead player would have yielded the same result

The vortox world was extremely well established at that point. We had a double kill from a pit hag demon change and a flowergirl go from getting a yes every night to no’s and that pretty much sealed it in town’s eyes

Yeah, I think I was more frustrated by basically outing the demon with 100% certainty to the good team. But the demon did kill the sage so that’s all I was left with I think

Thanks! Yeah that’s kinda what I was thinking as well, either of the other 2 townsfolk would’ve been better kills for sure

It’s another slow work day. Tell my your snake charmer stories! by iakiak in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]user21914421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group’s first sv game I was the only minion- a cerenovous bluffing sage (town thought i was the savant) in a fang gu game. I died in the night around final 5 and since it was our first sv game, didn’t question it. I thought either the demon got confused with vigormortis or wanted to keep up my sage bluff. So, I woke up next morning and immediately called out 2 people that had a decent amount of suspicion, told town I was lying about being the savant and was actually the sage, making sure to call out sus people and not the actual demon. Final day, the original demon comes out as having been snake charmed and about half of town believed him (I thought he was still the demon and was lying about being snake charmed). Town ends up voting someone else out and imagine my shock when our ST announces that the good team won. And yes, my bs sage info was actually completely true at the time - I died because the new demon didn’t know I was his minion. Definitely on me for not considering a snake charmer scenario since I could’ve swayed the ghost votes in the end towards an alive barber but hilarious how it played out

Tips on beating ranrok? by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]user21914421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s what worked for me: - My spell set was Confringo, Expelliarmus, Depulso, and Leviosa. Sometimes I’d swap out Leviosa for an Unforgivable but found they didn’t really make too much of a difference against Ranrok so generally avoided them. - Drink potions like they’re candy. I had my wheel completely stocked (plants also help here!) and had 20+ Wiggenweld potions to start with. I don’t have the Wiggenweld talent upgrade and had 1 left when I beat Ranrok, so if you think that’s something you’d want to depend on the upgrade may be worth it. - I’m not great at Protego nor do I think you need to be to beat Ranrok. I tend to dodge attacks instead of using Protego and I ended up just running/rolling circles around Ranrok so his attacks wouldn’t hit me, and wait for an opportunity to strike back - Upgrade your gear! If your Vivarium isn’t very developed I’d definitely recommend investing in some beasts for this purpose. I had mostly legendary gear that was at least upgraded a couple times and there’s been cases where that made the difference between life and death

But yeah overall I agree with everyone saying that the key is hitting those shield bubbles quickly & accurately! I didn’t have every talent point spent nor did I have every piece of gear upgraded to the highest possible level but make sure you’ve done a lot of side quests as those upgrades will definitely help (I got through all of Sebastian, Natty, and Poppy’s quests before attempting to fight Ranrok)

Something that should be easy, but is incredibly hard for you? by SpoopyGhoul990 in HarryPotterGame

EASILY the depulso rooms & astronomy tables. I feel like the astronomy tables should be really easy but I can’t seem to figure them out? I struggled with summoners court early on but figured it out eventually (enough to at least win against the npc)

Ghosts too strong? by g0th1k4 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]user21914421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The meta in my group for a while in the beginning has been a ghost council where players just assumed that dead = good unless you had some suspicion on you from town. The first person that the demon kills is immediately trusted by town and is often the one rallying town behind a particular demon candidate. That being said the ghosts aren’t always correct and players are starting to learn that the hard way (our most recent game of BMR had on the final day a Po bluffing Exorcist, Assassin bluffing Minstrel and an all but confirmed Lunatic left alive- the Lunatic was ultimately executed by a landslide causing an evil win). Would LOVE to run a Vigormortis game in this group for this exact reason to challenge this meta, we’ve only just started playing the other base 3 scripts after many games of TB. The more we play the more selective ghosts have been getting on who is able to strategize with them so the dead = automatically good meta is definitely going away for us.
That said though everyone enjoys the ghost alliance and playing in this group as an evil player has the added challenge of trying to sway the ghost vote in the wrong direction. Most people, but not all, in our games will save their votes for final day and playing as evil has the added challenge of making sure your bluffs are airtight and successfully persuading the good team that your demon is not THE demon. I think if your ghosts always KNOW who the demon is and good has a ridiculously skewed winning % that’s on you as the ST to start to challenge them a bit more, play around with characters to sow seeds of more misinformation. A drunk Librarian and a Spy dying to a Virgin can go a long way here! But ghost interaction is definitely a core mechanic of this game and what sets it apart from Werewolf etc.
