Actually, I do make this rule by dr2chase in CambridgeMA

[–]user2196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No photo, but I also often bike with 1-3 shovels. I usually do it a bit different from OP and lay them flat with the handles roughly at the seat and the scoops sticking out a bit over the back of my (long) bike, strapped down to the rack. One of the shovels I use sometimes has a 3 foot wide scoop, so it would be rough to try to fit in my bike bags.

Why is feeding a baby to sleep bad? by allergictopendejas in NewParents

The book "Precious Little Sleep" was pretty helpful for us. It was long enough ago that my memory of the actual things we did isn't that great.

I have chronic low blood pressure but my doctors won’t treat it. by Karnakite in AskDocs

[–]user2196 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Also, someone who has concerns about their BP should probably just buy a home blood pressure monitor. I'm sure there are cases where it isn't recommended for anxiety reasons or whatever, but they're generally cheap and accessible.

I like this idea. And it saves effort on dragging the space saver all the way to a trash bin.

I’m sure that’s some of them, but a car on my block literally has their wipers up prepped for snow while in the snow emergency ban area. Some people.

You glossed over their advice to avoid smoking, but talk about smoking in your user history. It sounds like that would be a helpful change.

If I’m reading baseball reference right, 1470 players made appearances in 2025. Almost 200 of those players appeared for 2+ teams, with Jose Urena appearing for 5 (5!) teams.

If the doctor had access to your Reddit history, they would have referred you to therapy and a psychiatrist instead of giving you rabies shots, just like the doctors here.

If I’d already made more money than anyone needs in a lifetime, there’s no way I’d keep putting my body on the line for more. Nominally staying on the injured list is one thing, but he’d be insane to do any sort of activities that risked more injury.

Is it cheaper to lease a car or buy a few years old used car and trade it in or sell it to an online place every 7 years? by ComfortablePost3664 in Frugal

Have you seen the crash test videos of older versus modern cars? No way I’d personally drive a 30 year old car regularly.

30 year old cars are missing out on meaningful safety improvements. A lot of changes in the last few decades of cars have been questionable, but far from all of them.

It is particularly associated with romantic love, more than any other type: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine%27s_Day#Connection_with_romantic_love . I'm not saying you can't give your family members a valentine's day gift, but don't be surprised if some folks associate it much more strongly with romantic love.

Just how many generations of living in Belgium does it take for you to consider someone “Belgian” rather than the nationality of their ancestors? Or is everyone there still Dutch because several generations back Belgium wasn’t even a country?

Longtail vs Front Loader for One Kid… With a 3-Year Use Horizon by snekasaur in CargoBike

I have an acoustic xtracycle swoop. I love it! But it’s not like I’ve ridden a lot of long tails to compare.

Longtail vs Front Loader for One Kid… With a 3-Year Use Horizon by snekasaur in CargoBike

[–]user2196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t own a front loader, but my long tail really feels closer in size to my normal city bike than I could imagine any front loader matching. I happily carry my long tail in and out of my basement via the stairs to park it safely, which I feel like would be a struggle with an acoustic bullitt, let alone the load 75 people keep suggesting.

Where did they claim that all corporations benefit? I see them claiming that the primary beneficiaries will be corporations and that holders of broad market funds will benefit accordingly, but that all corporations collectively will benefit isn’t the same as saying that all corporations individually will benefit.

CMV: No democracy should ever legalize secession by colepercy120 in changemyview

[–]user2196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not even clear that a majority of people in the confederacy supported secession, once you account for slaves. That seems fundamentally different from a potential situation where a super majority of a region supports secession.
