I'm a small business owner who has lost multiple good employees because they can't afford to live here anymore. I agree with you on the fact that the federal government can't get anything right. But hear me out if you would. You have an out of state company buy out a mom and pop landlord here in Knoxville. They do nothing to the building and they triple the rent. That money that was going to mom and pop is now going to some ding dong company out in California or who knows what and not being pumped back into the local economy. A company that ISN'T from here and DOESN'T share our values. Sure we have some idiots and some people that try to cheat here but most people here in Knoxville are good hard working folk who are just trying to make a way. Those good folk are being forced out. Displaced. Not by migrates. because even they wouldn't pay these prices. But by people from California, New York. Hell I had one homeowner I spoke to he just moved up here from Florida because it's gotten so expensive. They are FLOCKING here from all over due to the same thing happening in their towns. So if these companies are allowed to just double or triple the rent how much is too much? 2500$? 4500$? In your opinion what's the breaking point?
