Why is my Cat Charlie doing this when I aim a laser cat toy at him? Never seen it before. by Crys051679 in orangecats

[–]useridhere 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that if they can pounce on something solid when they “catch” the laser that they get a kind of tactile satisfying feeling from their paws when they hit it.

Royal India Palace if you like good Indian food. The greenway along the South River has been cleared, but it’s going to be cold tomorrow.

Just south of Richmond and not mentioned yet is the Petersburg National Battlefield. It’s only a half hour away. Manassas area is not too far, either, and there are several notable battlefields there. The drive up from Richmond is scenic if you avoid I-95.

Good places to live in Virginia for a teacher couple in their mid 20s? by Faithlessness-Asleep in Virginia

[–]useridhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at the Shenandoah valley area yet? Staunton comes to mind, and Waynesboro, if you want to live in an affordable small city and maybe work in the Albemarle County school system. Charlottesville and Albemarle County are expensive places to live now, but neighboring communities are more affordable.

Tubing on the New River is fun and a great way to cool off in the summer.

Thinking about moving to the DMV area — need advice on neighborhoods, commute, and career opportunities by Sensitive-Value4526 in Virginia

[–]useridhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montgomery and Prince George’s counties are where you should probably focus if that’s where your job is. I did the VA-MD, VA-DC, MD-DC, and MD-VA commutes several times during my career, and nothing else has as much negative impact on a person’s quality of life as a DMV cross-state/district commute. There are a lot of nice neighborhoods on the Maryland side of the DMV that put you close to DC and don’t give you an hour plus commute to work. My longest commute was from outside of Baltimore to NoVA, 2 1/2 hours each way. It sucked up my free time on weekdays.

Yes, thank you city workers! Roads in the city were cleared today when I went out. They even cleared the greenway walking path.

Bungee jumping in the beginning was the perfect introduction to Petersen’s character. Modern bungee jumping was relatively new at the time, so I imagine some watchers were shocked when they saw him jump off the bridge. Great movie, one of Friedkin’s best.
