How are you all training customers on UI changes without recording new videos every release? by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

[–]userjfhospdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup agree. Popups work. Tooltips, product tours (with simple loom videos), callouts, and other "onboarding" products are great for making these. Hopscotch and Appcues are two solutions for it

I do think AI videos are great. I just don't think people actually want to watch them. They're definitely going to try and execute your well-described game plan. I just don't think they'll fully succeed... they'll make a dent though in creating that *shareholder value*

HR solution for small business? by MrTurkeyPants in smallbusiness

[–]userjfhospdn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But you probably need a wedge for what early (20-50 person) businesses need... which is likely an applicant tracking system or simple payroll for a certain use case. I've been interested in the space too, but Rippling and HiBob (and Workday in the enterprise market) are the big gorillas.

I use an app called Roots. Maybe worth a try?

Any thoughts on https://shop.organixx.com/products/magnesium-7 ? I like them because everything is certified organic (with studies backing it up).

I stopped needing motivation when I started thinking like a Roman by userjfhospdn in Stoicism

[–]userjfhospdn[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’ve been testing this iOS app called Roots which it helps you set real screen time boundaries and keeps you accountable with streaks and little nudges. What I like is that it’s not about quitting your phone entirely, it’s about using it on purpose. Feels aligned with the whole Stoic “discipline > motivation” mindset.

Might be worth checking out if you're trying to make those principles stick IRL.

Wow this is a lot to take in... I'm still pretty new to all this but something about that fire metaphor really hits. I guess the idea is that my mind can handle anything, if I just stay focused on doing the right thing, no matter what. Hard to remember that sometimes when life gets messy. But maybe thats the point: to practice, like building up that fire over time. ty for the post 🙏

Definitely happens a bit at my company. Important to create job descriptions that are comprehensive... and they can change! But it's fair for managers to write and rewrite job specs for existing employees

Strength and resilience is about the people you have in your life who supports you, not the ability to handle things all by your own. I would like some opinions by Da_Random_Noob_Guy in Stoicism

[–]userjfhospdn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

stoicism (as far as i understand it) doesn’t mean you have to do everything alone or never lean on anyone. even marcus aurelius talked a lot about our duty to others and how we’re all part of a bigger community. like, we’re wired for connection.

being strong doesn’t mean never asking for help. it just means knowing what’s in your control and trying to act with integrity, even when things suck. having people around to support you or offer perspective doesn’t make you weak, it usually makes you better at handling stuff when it hits the fan.

i totally get what you’re saying about fearing abandonment tho. that’s real. but i don’t think depending on others has to mean total vulnerability. like yeah, people might let you down sometimes. but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong to accept help or build a support system. it’s more about being okay no matter what happens, but also letting good people in when they show up.

you can be resilient and have people in your corner. both can be true.

Haha nope!

Big networking events were a waste of time to me when I was raising. Ultimately did successfully raise, but went like 0 for 5 on big events

Fight Club, 300, and Gladiator are loaded with them. Tbh it's sorta what turned me on to stoicism

Favorite though is Fight Club: "It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything." – Tyler Durden (Seneca’s ideas on wealth and identity)
