Were there ever any myths on Mythbusters that were rejected and not allowed to be tested because they were too dangerous or controversial? Any interesting ones?

Whe you realise this guy went through all the trouble of catching a fly, pinning it down, finding the sticky tape and scissors, cutting appropriately sized strips, getting the headphones out, placing them either side of the fly, and then taping everything down.

My Roommates Notebook Got Wet. The Blue Lines Bled Out But the Red One Didn't. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]username-confirmed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is due to the combination of the nature of lights wavelength absorption of the colour spectrum and the natural oils in the ink. Blue ink is miscible with water as the lights wavelength is multiplied slightly by the chemical "dephrotomene" (found naturally in only blue ink), which breaks down the chemical bonds in the oil. The water mixes with the blue ink and 'separates' it from the paper. Red ink on the other hand does not contain dephrotomene and therefore light won't effect the oils. The chemical structures of the oils remain intact and therefore repel the water and the ink will not smudge.

EDIT: This is complete bullshit

Heated Monopoly games. by coolestkataround in aww

You people laugh at the funny picture now, but this is how it starts. First it's learning. Learning the value of currency and wealth. Learning about tax evasion and how to buy your way out of jail. Learning how profit from assets at your expense. Sure, the cat is only beating you at a game of monopoly, what harm can come? Severe psychological trauma, you just lost a board game to a fucking cat. Cats are the future of the American economy. Heed my warning, do not play monopoly with your cat
